Problem running zilstat script on a core install server.
We cannot run the zilstat utility (from http://www.richardelling.com/Home/scripts-and-programs-1/zilstat) on an Solaris 10 u9 / x86 installed according SUNWCreq (which is a core install) while it works fine on a similar config but installed with all packages (SUNWCXall) So we know it works in this environment but it seems...

dedicated ZIL/L2ARC
We are looking into the possibility of adding a dedicated ZIL and/or L2ARC devices to our pool. We are looking into getting 4 ? 32GB Intel X25-E SSD drives. Would this be a good solution to slow write speeds? We are currently sharing out different slices of the pool to windows servers using comstar and fibrechannel. We are currently getting around 300MB/sec performance with 70-100% disk busy.

ZFS and NFS
Hi, My customer says: ------------------------------------ Application has NFS directories with millions of files in a directory, and this can''t changed. We are having issues with the EMC appliance and RPC timeouts on the NFS lookup. I am looking doing is moving one of the major NFS exports to as Sun 25k using VCS to cluster a ZFS RAIDZ that is then NFS exported. For performance I

j4200 drive carriers
apparently if you don''t order a J4200 with drives, you just get filler sleds that won''t accept a hard drive. (had to look at a parts breakdown on sunsolve to figure this out -- the docs should simply make this clear.) it looks like the sled that will accept a drive is part #570-1182. anyone know how i could order 12 of these?

We''re running the latest version of Nexenta on a pretty powerful machine (4x Xeon 7550, 256GB RAM, 12x 100GB Samsung SSDs for the cache, 50GB Samsung SSD for the ZIL, 10GbE on a dedicated switch, 11x pairs of 15K HDDs for the pool). We''re connecting a single Linux

ZFS configuration suggestion with 24 drives
Replacing my current media server with another larger capacity media server. Also switching over to solaris/zfs. Anyhow we have 24 drive capacity. These are for large sequential access (large media files) used by no more than 3 or 5 users at a time. I''m inquiring as to what the best configuration for this is for vdevs. I''m considering the following configurations 4 x x6

How do separate ZFS filesystems affect performance?
...a separate ZFS filesystem likely to improve performance? I''ve heard that this is important, but I''m not clear why this is. Does each filesystem have its own queue in the ARC or ZIL?
