Some pre-RC1 listening tests
Hello everyone, ff123 compiled Monty's branch of the RC1 encoder, see his post on r3mix.net forum: http://66.96.216.160/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?board=c&action=display&num=994299736&start=30 Anyway it only supports ~128kbps mode, so I did a quick listening test with some files that bugged vorbis beta4. grace.wav - the right channel is still a bit watery, and I think this can be seen visually on spectral analysis as dropouts...

FWD problems
I've been having issues getting FWD to work. I posted this same Q to the FWD forum (no responses yet), but I was hoping someone here had some insight: http://yabb.pulver.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=news;action=display;num=1072263468;start=0#0 I just signed up for an FWD account (I know I had one before, but I lost it.. :) I've got it running through Asterisk - all working fine from a SIP standpoint. I can dial FWD numbers like 612/613/etc and ev...

Voxbone Question
Hi List, I recently signed up with Voxbone to get some International DIDs. I was just about to purchase a DID this morning... but when I went to get it.... voxbone wanted the end user's address information. So I started to put it in... unfortunately... the end-user is in the U.S....but the only options are for a few select cities in GERMANY! I don't understand. Is there some

chkrootkit V. 0.47
...================</SNIPPIT>================ Looking above, the above shows a few anomalies like the bindshell ... INFECTED (PORTS: 6667) --and-- Checking `lkm'... You have 131 process hidden for readdir command chkproc: Warning: Possible LKM Trojan installed I do run an IRCd, and also YABB Message board along with APACHE web server - would the above then be normal output, and what about the lkm? Difficult sample for vorbis w/ audible artifacts
...positive this case is caused by the same thing either. There has already been some discussion about this clip on the r3mix.net forum for those interested, though it has mainly been centered around mp3. [PATCH] More generic version of MSVC bug workaround
There was a fix for a bug in MSVC 2015 update2: https://github.com/xiph/flac/commit/94a61241b02064c7d9fe508f72a742f2a90b8492 It seems that it's not the only version affected, see comment from 40th in this commit. Also, JRMC is affected: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,115742.0.html So, it makes sense to remove version check: better safe than sorry, and performance impact should be very small (probably negligible) anyway. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Bulletin Board for CentOS
Hello, I'm looking for a simple web-based forum for Centos 3.x or 4.x. I've used phpBB before, it was a sysadmin's nightmare :-( This time I want something - that doesn't need a security patch every other week - that ships in a nice RPM so I can patch/upgrade easily Any suggestions, free or commercial? Thanks, -- Francois Caen, RHCE, CCNA SpiderMaker, LLC

Message Board Recommendations...
I've been trying several message board software (PHPBB, etc) and haven't found one that's as feature rich as I'd like. I used to run Ikonboard but have had some issues with that. Does anyone have a great recommendation for an awesome message board with loads of features and is open-source (free)? Thanks Scott

Is this list active?
I subscribed this morning but have no traffic. Sometimes no traffic is a good thing. Since I've gone to ext3 on my 2.4.5 kernel, the only time I ever had problems was when the filesystems were not unmounted cleanly and the journal was lost. About 60 minutes of searching and reading and I found out how to recreate the journal. So far, so pleased with ext3fs. --

Some very early RC1 results
Hi all, I started testing the RC1 encoder at ftp://sjeng.sourceforge.net/pub/sjeng/oggdrop.exe (based on branch_monty_20010708) On the songs I have tested so far (not much :) I did not hear any stereo issues, but there are some very noticeable problems with the produced files. Songs without much high-end will suddenly have one when encoded. (you'd expect it the other way around) It

R128gain & metaflac
I mention metaflac because there are a few shell scripts that use it to write RG tags in a flac music library on Linux. With support for Ebu R128 gain in metaflac (the calculation according to specification, not an external program) it would be easy to use, just change the cmd line for metaflac in the script. Now that metaflac supports sample rates higher than 48kHz this would be a good thing in

RC2 worse than RC1 and Beta4
After doing an informal (128k) listening test, I have concluded that I prefer Beta4 over RC2. The 16kHz low-pass on the RC2 encoder makes it sound like FM radio. Both encoders SEEM to have a couple of dB bump at 10kHz.
