IBM BladeCenter HS20 blades
Greetings, We have purchased an IBM BladeCenter and I am in the process of testing Linux installation on these things (boot off SAN i.e. qla2300 driver, not using internal drives). My distro of choice is Debian, however, since I'm really not interested in trying to hand compile all the drivers, I decided to try CentOS (which I'm so far very impressed with). On boot, as with the

Re: How libvirt interacts with dhcpd?
Thanks for the reply Laine. My problem is that dnsmasq is masking dhcpd, xCAT uses dhcpd for PXE stuff. If dnsmasq answer DHCP requests the PXE boot won' t work. I want to see the logs for ensuring the dnsmasq is not masking dhcpd. Regards, 2018-06-18 11:39 GMT-03:00 Laine Stump <laine@redhat.com>: > On 06/18/2018 09:16 AM, Daniel. wrote: >> Cool, thanks...

How libvirt interacts with dhcpd?
Hi everybody, I'm using libvirt together with xCAT, on the same host, for testing purposes. xCAT install and manages dhcpd. How libvirt interacts with dhcpd? And if doens't how does the dhcp server of libvirt works, plus where I can find information on how to troubleshot it? Regards, -- “If you're going to try, go all the way. Otherwis...

PXE looping on localboot
...cal boot from hard disk, it just keeps looping back into PXE boot again instead of booting from the hard disk. It will perform a system install just fine, but when it switches to localboot after the install, it keeps looping through PXE boot. The file in pxelinux.cfg looks like this: #boot DEFAULT xCAT LABEL xCAT LOCALBOOT 0 This works just fine in 3.11. I also noticed that in 3.86, there's a message on the console about "!PXE entry point not found" which I don't see in 3.11. The hardware involved is IBM BladeCenter HS21, with onboard Broadcom gigabit ethernet. Is there a solu...

livecd vs nfsroot vs what?
Hi, I'm trying to deploy some non-linux OS via pxe and I was thinking to just launch CentOS in RAM and then run dd or qemu-img or something like this in order to complete the other OS install via template imaging. My first idea was to build a custom CentOS livecd and use that in combination with pxe kernel parameters, but perhaps there's a better way to do this. Ideas? Thanks, Lucian --

Dividing a vector into ntiles
R 2.1.1 Win 2k Would someone suggest a method (or methods) that can be used to determine ntile cutpoints of a vector, i.e. to determine values that can be used to divide a vector into thirds such as 0-33 centile, 34-66 centile, 67-100 centile. If for example I had a vector: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and wanted to divide the vector into thirds I would have cut-points of 3, and 6. Thanks, John John

Newbie RIS Replacement
Doing a lot of RTFM lately about PXE. I have done xCAT builds but want to take the voodo out of the process so I can control and understand the whole system. I am new to PXE technology and so consider me ignorant. The current server is a MS RIS server and I am attempting to migrate our facility to use Linux / PXE instead. First stage: take existing DO...

Fwd: syslinux-6.03 failed to boot ESXI 6.7
...t I have done. Going off on a tangent with this, the source code to VMWare's version of mboot is available when you get the source code from their site. It's a giant DVD ISO file; in it a file called efiboot-....tgz has it. I did a google search and found a file here: https://github.com/xcat2/xcat-dep/tree/master/esxboot It's GPL 2 In case someone want's to look at it. livecd vs nfsroot vs what?
...;s a > better way to do this. I would use the regular kickstart %pre parts if the tools you need are already there or could be imported. If you can pxe, what about trying warewulf diskless boot to achieve what you need ( I have played with c6 + clamav + ntfs3g to clean-up a friend win7 laptop). xcat can also be a choice, although I haven't tried. Status of PXEChain? (and friends)
...t:lwip (4.0.10?). I need to replace my existing 4.0.3 anyway. Looking to try 4.0.10-pre17. But above all else, I'm looking for whatever build carries the best chance of me being able to boot pxelinux, then pxechain to another pxelinux, windows deployment server, acronis snap-deploy server, or xcat catalog server. And if if it is possible, a little syntax help/example would be appreciated as well. Thanks! -Ken

Interesting PXE server setup question
While this is not a problem with CentOS I am hoping to solve the situation using a CentOS machine. For anyone not interested I am sorry to clutter your mail box. For everyone else any ideas or suggestions are welcome. A bit of background: We have an application that runs only in DOS 6.22 at the moment that we would like to run on all of our desktop computers each time they boot up. Our
