Samba4: variables in profilePath
...%LOGONSERVER%/profiles/user
%SERVERNAME%/profiles/user
//%SERVERNAME%/profiles/user
and nothing. Windows 7 complains that it can't find the profile. If I
use a real server name, it works fine.
I need to found a way to store the user profile in the nearest server.

Wan optimizations with linux
...y to
cache traffic of HTTP applications. Somebody have any other idea to
get better utilization of WAN links with Linux?
I had seen commercial appliances that do dictionary compression and
other cool things, but I don''t want to use they.

...lients close them.
I have problems with a samba file server and windows/linux clients
with the message "text file busy". The clients doesn't have the files
open, the problem is in the server.
I tried with oplocks=no without sucess.

How to change objectSid?
...ldap.UNWILLING_TO_PERFORM: {'info': '00002035: samldb: objectSid must
not be specified!', 'desc': 'Server is unwilling to perform'}
Is there a way to do it? I know that it is not something to be done
usually, but trust me, I need it :)

Samba4: Site dependent profile path
...r by user, but it's a headache
for us. Users move from site to site and we don't have an accurate way
in advance to know the location of each user.
If there way to define the file server for the profile that depends
on the site? Subnet, logon server, whatever?

Additional indexes in Samba4
...tion,DC=samba4,DC=mydomain,DC=local
changetype: modify
replace: searchFlags
searchFlags: 13
Is that OK. I also tried with ldbmodify and got the same error.
I really need to index more attributes, I have more than 5k users and
the performance of some queries are slow.

Text file busy on samba fileserver
...es). The temporary solution is to kill the
smbd process asigned to the problematic user.
I see that the problem is that the files remain open in the server
when they are closed on the clients. I try with 'oplocks=false' with
the problem continues.
thanks!

Samba 3.5.6 - Windows 2008r2 domain trust fail
...erverEnum2 error: Couldn't find primary domain controller for
domain WTEST
Could not initialise lsa pipe. Error was NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
return code = -1
I haven't found information about trust between 2008 and Samba. May be it's
not supported.

Problems with Routing and Masquerading
Hi,
I have a linux box which balances load between two interfaces ( say WAN1
and WAN2). I have masquerading on for any request coming from LAN to the
outside world.
The setup is in such a way that WAN1 drops packets with source ip
belonging to WAN2''s network and viceversa.
For some strange reason, I find that packet coming out from the WAN
interface has source address of WAN2 and

Samba3 to Samba4 progressive migration
Hi,
I have to migrate a company from Samba3+LDAP to Samba4. This company
has different locations (around 10), all of them have the same LDAP
tree replicated with its Samba server running as PDC. The
user/group/passwd part of the migration is solved, but I have to deal
with machine account yet. My plan is the following:
First, install the Samba DC in the central location, run the classicupgrade.
