Problems starting Wavelab
hi i've been running steinberg's wavelab 5 under wine20041201, but recently i upgraded to wine20050111 - and wavelab was the only app i was using that didn't work ... so i downgraded back to 20041201 - and it won't work :( i had compiled the 2005 release from source (and was able to see, for the first time, wine's jack audio...

connection problem
I am pretty sure that the integrity of my mp3's is okay. I know that music match shreds the mp3 data and produces mp3 files that are not ISO compliant. I always use WaveLab and the radium codec to encode my sets and enable the ISO compatibility option at all times. This problem only seemed to come about with winamp 2.7 but if sonique is doing it to, I don't know... What about relaying? Do streams get dropped in a similar manner in relay setup? If so then it would...

Flags Ignored
...r:fixme:ShellExeExecuteW32) when i try to launch Steinberg Wavleab via wine 20041019 (from scratch on debian 3.1 emulating installed win98) with kernel 2.6.9 I saw that software running under SuSE 9.1 (with latest wine's RPM package for this distrib). This is the only error i get. Sometime, Wavelab's splash screen comes and somtimes it does not. Knowing the meaning of this message would help me to find where to search to solve the problem. Thaks a lot.

Wavelet matrix
...uch that f=Bw where f is the signal, B the basis matrix and, w the weight matrix. I am not concerned about w which I can easily obtain from most wavelet packages. Is there a package/ function that can create the B matrix (supposing it is a Haar wavelet for now, if it helps)? I have tried to look in WaveLab and Rice Wavelet toolbox (in Matlab) without much luck. If there is no package, it would be great if someone could point me in the general direction. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Sachin [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

OGG in RIFF-WAVE (encoding with MSACM)
...ne. But than i found out that FruityLoops uses ACM so i wanted to support that too. Attached is a half-working code that encodes a WAV file using ACM. And here is the problem. The encoded files have either "holes" in them (that's what Sound Forge shows) or are shorter (that's what Wavelab and FruityLoops shows). I've been going through your list and found a suggestion that this might be due to the nature of Vorbis, that it writes the header information durng the encode process. But i don't know how to deal with that, perhaps write some junk to the encoder before the actual d...

Comparison between Ogg Vorbis and LAME
...ept for the underwater sound. Both MP3 sound like recorded on high-quality tape (a little wobbly due to the tape engine, and loss of high frequencies that is unavoidable). Oggenc Q1 sounds distinctly like a 96 kbps Fraunhofer MP3, with a bit of the choppiness produced by stretching a sound on WaveLab without altering pitch. Oggenc beats MP3 on space. Oggenc Q3 I could tell 10 out of 10 on the listening test. It has a lack of definition both of the sound of the forest and the string instrument. I noticed that on that part, bitrate is higher than on the dance parts (probably due to maskin...
