Is there any way to release memory in running time?
Hi all, I am doing some intensive computation right now. My system is Pentium4 3.20G + 1.0G RAM + WindowsXP + R1.9.1. It seems my computer is very powerful. However, when I do some simple matrix algebra operations based on a matrix (DD) with dimension 5000000 by 2, I found that the consumption of RAM is huge. For example, the command a <- 1 - DD[,2] eats my 100M RAM. Does anyone know how

Bug#812166: [PATCH] x86/mce: fix misleading indentation in init_nonfatal_mce_checker().
...ce (xen builds cleanly for me with "6.0.0 20160117 (experimental) [trunk revision 232481]") but looking at the code the issue above is clearly real. Correctly reindent the if statement. This file uses Linux coding style (infact the use of Xen style for this line is the root cause of the wanring) so use tabs and while there remove the whitespace inside the if as Linux does. How to do this "combination" ?
Thanks David first. Probably, David misunderstood my points. source vector = (1,2) the length of the target vector = 3 My expected "complete" outputs should be: 111, 112, 121, 122, 211, 212, 221, 222. sample(c(1,2),3,replace=TRUE) just gives me one "randomly sampled" combination at a time. However, I need the whole list displayed above at a time. Rui

warning that legacy WAVE file has format type 1 but bits-per-sample is 24
Hello, I've tried encoding a FLAC file from a WAVE file saved with 24-bits-per-sample, using the flac executable. I get this warning: WARNING: legacy WAVE file has format type 1 but bits-per-sample=24 The code is currently here on line 373: src/flac/encode.c where the comment says let these slide with a warning since they're unambiguous I do not really understand the warning

How many records could I store in a dataframe?
Hi all, I have a dataframe with 2 variables and 6,000,000 records. It seems R will crash when the number of record is larger than 3,000,000. How many records could I store in a dataframe Rui

...mple operation? The accounts on the linux and windows boxes I'm trying to establish connections between have the same username and password. I downloaded the 2.2.7a tar ball, compiled and installed with all the default parameters on a "Core" linux distribution without any trouble or wanring messages. Next to nothing is running on the Linux machine. At first login, my bash PID is in the mid 40's. AFAIK no firewall is in operation: though I'd be up for confirming this. Confidence Intervals for Odds Ratios in multivariate logistic regression
Hi all, I am trying to fit a logistic regression for a bivariate response using five independent variables in a stepwise procedure. My outputs look okay but does any one know (or is there any literature on) how the confidence intervals are calculated for the reported odds ratios..? Thanks! [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

warning that legacy WAVE file has format type 1 but bits-per-sample is 24
..., the bist per sample should be either 8 or 16 (according to the Microsoft specs). > Also, a related but more practical question: is there *any* way to > create a 24- or 32-bits-per-sample WAVE file without getting this > warning when flac tries to encode it? Yes there is. To avoid this wanring the it should have a WAVE_FORMATEXTENSIBLE wFormatTag. Its trivally easy to convert your legacy format file to WAVEX using the sndfile-convert program that is part of https://mega-nerd.com/libsndfile/ Erik -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Erik de Cast...
