Acts as Most Popular plugin
...ugin> for sample usage. The plugin is mostly just a group_by in disguise. It is probably overkill if you just need to find the most popular items for one column, and probably doesn''t warrant a plugin. But if you are a newbie, then this plugin will do the heavy lifting for you. Shane Vitarana http://shanesbrain.net

Perform action after in-place edit
I want to be able to call an action after performing an edit using the in-place editor macro. I want to update multiple divs so I was thinking about using an RJS template. However, I can''t figure out how to trigger another action after the method created by in_place_edit_for runs. Is there is an option on Ajax.InPlaceEditor where I can inject some Element.update calls? Thanks, Shane

examples in subversion
Hey everyone. I have a quick question. Checking out facebooker as a plugin is currently really slow due to the example rails application. Would anyone object if I moved that out of the main plugin directory? Mike -- Mike Mangino http://www.elevatedrails.com

Introducing facebooker.yml
If you are using facebooker as a plugin, you can now have all your configuration in one place, namely config/facebooker.yml. You can create this file with rake facebooker:setup. It is also generated when you install it as a plugin. It has a similar setup to database.yml with sections for each environment. You can also configure your ssh reverse tunnels. If you are upgrading, make sure to

Towards a 1.0 release
Hey everybody. I''ve been using Facebooker on several projects over the last few months and feel like it is really starting to mature. I''d like to push towards a 1.0 release within the next month. I''d really like everybody''s input on what still needs to be done, as well as some help in wrapping things up. I''ve created a list of things that still

facebook_url_rewriting.rb
Here''s the fix for Facebook apps that specify a controller in their callback URLs. First, set this variable in your environment scripts: ENV[''FACEBOOKER_CALLBACK_PATH''] = ''/controller'' # where controller is the name of your Facebook controller And then patch vendor/plugins/facebooker/lib/facebooker/rails/facebook_url_rewriting.rb as shown in the

Graphical stats with Rails Stats plugin
...of code versus lines of test code, and two other graphs showing the composition of your project and tests. The plugin requires Gruff Graphs. <http://shanesbrain.net/articles/2006/07/18/rails-stats-plugin-or-show-me-those-pretty-graphs> If not useful, I hope someone finds it pretty :) Shane Vitarana

find_or_initialize_by and Nested Resources
...d to the url which creates the song, ie: new_song_path(@artist) This will obviously fail since @artist.id is nil. I can use find_or_create_by instead, but then if the user cancels creating a song, I will be left with an extra row in the artist table that I don''t need. Any ideas? SVN security hole explained
Hi all, If you are using Pound / Pen or another load balancer, I believe you should read this: http://blog.teksol.info/articles/2006/08/25/subversion-metadata-exposure-on-mongrel My article refers to Dan Benjamin''s http://hivelogic.com/articles/2006/04/30/preventing_svn_exposure My point is that even though we are preventing Apache from serving anything except a select few file

Better RESTful routes with fb_sig_request_method
With the new fb_sig_request_method provided by Facebook, I''ve patched shanev''s pseudo-resource routes to generate restful routes, minus some exceptions. redirect_to broken?
Is ActionController''s redirect_to method broken by Facebooker? When I try to invoke it and execute through apps.facebook.com, I get a blank page returned, response code 200, no redirect. When I try to connect directly to the server (not through apps.fb), I get the infinite recursion error described minutes ago. Are any of you able to use redirect_to successfully, and if so, any ideas

gruff send_data
