linux-2.4.9-ac5, ext3 and disk quota
...quota code for ext3. | | ... | | We only test quota code against the -ac kernels - this is supported | and works well. which is given on: http://www.uow.edu.au/~andrewm/linux/ext3/ext3-usage.html When setting up the disk quotas I have to choice between two available quota formats: vfsold - original quota format and vfsv0 - new quota format Now, my question is: Does the above quoted statment have something to do with the selection of the quota format? That means: Do I have to use the new format "vfsv0" to avoid conflicts with "ext3" or is also the "vf...

So, what about stable quota support in ext3fs?
Good evening. We have some heavy-loaded servers on ext2, and we want to migrate to ext3fs. But we need full and stable quota support. I have headrd that there are some problems in quota usage under ext3fs. Is it true? Should we decline the ext3 usage as impossible in our servers? We need high-level stability in our server (hosting). Thanks before. -- Best regards,

file quotas
Hi all, I've compiled samba --with-quotas, turned on user and group quotas on ext3, assigned quotas, BUT it does not seem to be working. Windows client always shows all available space instead of showing the quota. Do I miss something ? P.S. I run Debian with 2.4.19 kernel patched for ext3 ACL support (from acl.bestbits.at). -- Yuri Pismerov, Sr. System Administrator, TUCOWS.COM INC.

another quota related ext3fs crash...
...partitions on this drive (/www and /home) had crashes; the only other usrquota partition in this system is on another drive, has barely disk/fs i/o (mounted as /tmp) and hasn't reported any problems yet. btw. our semi-highend webservers which are running with vanilla 2.4.17 kernels and ext3 + vfsold quota hadn't had any crashes yet. have you any ideas on how to resolve this problem? best regards, michael

...4.9 and the latest linuxquota tools (3.01-pre9) I have compiled samba with quota support enabeled. But when I use the new quota style (vfsv0 version 2 quota) samba does not recognize it and displays the whole harddisk space in windows explorer and not only the userquota. My first attempt was to use vfsold (version 1 quota) with kernel 2.4.9 but it seems thet there is a bug in the kernel with this combination, because quota is counted incorrectly. Samba shows the quota corectly, but the kernel does collect quota information wrong. It works perfectly with kernel 2.2.19 but if I use this kernel Version...
