maximum cpus/cores in CentOS 4.1
What is the maximum number of AMD64 cores supported by CentOS 4? The RedHat page https://www.redhat.com/software/rhel/configuration/ suggests that RHEL 4 AS supports up to 8 AMD64/EM64T logical cpus. Is that accurate and does it apply to CentOS 4? I see a few vendors offering boxes with 8 (dual core) CPU sockets. IWILL for one. Thanks, Tony Schreiner Boston College

zfs sparc boot "Bad magic number in disk label"
Hello, I recently installed SunOS 5.11 snv_91 onto a Ultra 60 UPA/PCI with OpenBoot 3.31 and two 300GB SCSI disks. The root file system is UFS on c0t0d0s0. Following the steps in ZFS Admin I have attempted to convert root to ZFS utilizing c0t1d0s0. However, upon "init 6" I am always presented with: Bad magic number in disk label can''t open disk label package My Steps: 1)

v3.0 architecture
I just had a thought. It's probably going to be too big of a change for v2.0, so something to think about for v3.0: Supporting multiple UIDs is difficult. Currently expire-tool and v2.0's LMTP server are implemented in a way that it's always running as root and only temporarily dropping privileges. So any security hole in there gives the attacker root privileges. Not very

Trouble with User Management
Hi all ! I am trying to setup a Samba 3 server which allows WinXP machines to access directories on a Linux box. So far, I have managed to set upa stand-alone server with a public share which can be read by everybody in the Windows Neighborhood. What I want to do, though, is to have some kind of user management, so that only the person who owns a Linux directory in the share can access it via his

US T1 Hangup Detection
We are in the process of preparing to move our Asterisk server to a Digital T1 interface card instead of a analog card (via an Adtran which is now connected to the T1). I did a preliminary test the other day and hooked the T1 line up to the T1 card, bypassing the Adtran. This worked rather well I must say. The two issues I ran into are: 1) Caller ID is not working even though I enabled

Hot swap CPU
From: Rodrigo Barbosa <rodrigob at suespammers.org> > Btw, don't quote me on this one :) > I'm only 90% sure of the hotswapping capabilities, and less than 50% > sure about the price :) There _are_ systems with hot-swap CPUs, memory and/or, PCI[-X] slots. They are _not_ commodity and pricey, and require OS-level support. In fact, I believe Linux 2.6 has some support for
