TrackMania Nations Forever certain tracks unplayable
Hello I'm using wine 1.1.37 and TM Forever 2.11.21 en on Kubuntu Karmic.
Most track play fine (with compositing turned off), but on some tracks the framerate is so low (1-2 fps) they are unplayable. These tracks include: A01, D08, E01, and a couple more.
I tried lowering resolution, using windowed mode, unticking effects ckeckboxes in advanced configuration and it didn't help even a bit.
My hardware is good enough:
Core i7, GF8800 GT, 6gb ddr3 ram,...
Does anybody have any ideas how...

I downloaded Wine, coppied World of Warcraft from my computer with Windows Vista on to an external drive, then coppied it onto this computer with ubuntu 9.10. I can start it, but once I press play on the updater it looks like this

WoW, and most other games, do not run under Wine.
I've recently installed Wine onto my ubuntu intrepid ibex box and I'm having endless issues when it comes to running games. Right now, I'm specifically trying to play World of Warcraft and I am receiving graphical issues that cause the game to be unplayable. These bugs are widespread and i cannot see anything in the game's window. The laptop is running on an Intel GMA965Q. I've played games on Windows with this laptop with 0 issues.

4.8-Stable DummyNet
...y connections from the lan to the outer world. Natd
controls access to the lan.
We have a 6.0 mb/s ADSL net connection for all the gaming clients to use,
however if a gamer starts downloading a file, that file takes precendence and
causes everyone's pings 'in-game' to sky rocket to unplayable levels. I have
done some reading on DummyNet which is attached at the hip with IPFW, however I
have been unsuccessful in getting it to work properly.
I have done some research and found this site:

Fixing a Corrupted Vorbis file
Hello, Since last week I started having random ogg files from my library
turning corrupt, and practically being unplayable by anything. All this
while I was browsing and sorting my library through Amarok.
Luckily today I've found the possible culprit, Amarok itself, and others
who may have the issue as well: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=369672
But regardless of how the issue started, the question rema...

'corrupt' mp3s/icecast reencoding/mpglib
hi
icecast/ices/lame/otto all work beautifully (most of the time!)
however, certain tracks, encoded as VBR files with either grip+lame
(linux), or audiocatalyst (win2k), are unplayable (using ices to
reencode and stream at 128kbps)...ices streams a few hundred
millisenconds then quits...
from reading on the FAQ/BUGlist, the only thing i can see if that these
may be 'corrupt', causing mpdlib to crash
is there any reliable way of vetting files to see if they are playa...

Which is the latest Wine that has DGA support?
Hello.
I'm trying to find wine that can make use of DGA (with new Linux distros
like my Debian 4.0). I need it because I want to run Fallout 2 with
acceptable speed - right now it is unplayable (without DGA). So far I tested
wine 0.9.15 and some above - and no luck. I guess I should look for older
Wine but which one exactly?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my English.

Warcraft and Wine help [graphics]
...runs better than in windows but im having some trouble with bugs and glitches..
i tried setting graphics to openGL and turning the settings to minimum but to no avail. :/

Lag when playing freeware games
...witched to Linux recently and one of the biggest things I miss from Windows are freeware games such as Spelunky or Desktop Dungeons. So, I got Wine and downloaded those games, thinking they should run great and I'll be happy in Linux-Land.
The problem is they lag an ungodly amount, making them unplayable. Spelunky is a lot worse than Desktop Dungeons, which I guess I could suffer through, but I think it would be better if they ran lag-free. The FAQ had nothing to say on this, so I figured I'd ask here. So, has anyone else encountered similar problems when running games like this? And if so,...

I recently installed Call Of Duty 2, but the game is unplayable because of mouse lag. I try options "winetrick nwo=<?>" where ? was "enable", "disabled" or "force" - nothing works. I also try to change the "smooth mouse" in game menu - still nothing changes.

Choppy sound
Hello all.
I have a strange and irritating problem with Star Wars: Knights of the Old
Republic.
I played ok up to a place where I saved. There, I quit the game. When I
restarted, the sound became choppy, making the game unplayable: about 1/2
sec of sound plays, then loops for about 3-4 sec, then the next 1/2 sec,
loops again, etc...
The screen isn't updated during this; well, it is updated, but once every 15
sec.
When I switched to another virtual console, to kill wine, the sound resumed
normally! No more chooping...

Diablo 3 - Perfomance was ok but it's not anymore.
...ame thru wine, it was working perfect. No stuttering at all.
I've finished the Diablo3 on normal level and now i'm playing it again on nightmare level - but i doubt that's releated to my problem.
Since few days when i run diablo via wine i get incredible stuttering, the game is nearly unplayable but _nothing_ changed in wine's configuration / Diablo3 game configuration and my hardware specs remained the same !
my wine is 1.5.5 with these patches:

[Flac-users] BIG Problem!!! Help please!
Yeow! I have many files that have become unplayable. They are almost (but not always) the files of
an entire CD. The error I get is FLAC_STREAM_DECODER_ERROR_LOST_SYNC. They played until recently
using WinAmp and PhatNoise. They will not decode, returning a 0 error. I recently re-installed

Input slowdown with Mass Effect in git
...ccurs to me after about 15-20 minutes of playing Mass Effect in git and the latest xorg-server for gentoo (1.10.2). Overrides are d3dx9_36 and dinput8 (http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=16822).
After some time, the input response from the keyboard slows to about 1000 ms, hence making the game unplayable. The mouse input however remains sharp. When I quit the game, the keyboard input remains slow when I type in Konsole or browse the web. When I go to full screen console (CTRL+ALT+F1) and type, the keyboard input is fine. From what I understand, this could be a wine-x11 or a xorg-server bug.

Jitter Buffer fix for frozen sender
...o be the start of our new synchronized stream.
Also included is a testcase.
Note that I found a related problem if the receiver is frozen. Once it
unfreezes, you may have a hundred speex_jitter_put before a _get. _get
will then still return the very first packet, even if there are suddenly
100 unplayed packets in the buffer (so it's playing old data).
Similarily, if more than 300 packets are suddenly inserted, the buffer
is full, and the call to _get actually fails, even if there are 300
consecutive packets in the buffer. After a few _get calls, the buffer
will reset, and the next packe...
