selinux problem with squid and snmp_port in centos 5
Hi all, Just want to enable squid's SNMP support to get information about its perfomance through snmp client. I set "snmp_port 3401" in squid.conf SELinux is in enforcing state with targeted policy. But squid daemon doesn't start. There are some messages in audit.log like type=SYSCALL msg=audit(1176946812.492:244): arch=40000003 syscall=102 success=no exit=-13 a0=2 a1=bf880060

Fedora 9 domU on CentOS 5.2 dom0 - very unstable?
I am running a Fedora 9 domU on CentOS 5.2 dom0, and it is quite unreliable. Every few days I have the following phenomenon: - many applications do not work at all (e. g. Nagios 3.05 stops checking, but the cgis work perfectly, the web server works as well) - system processes run into time outs (e. g. logging in via ssh runs into timeouts <<"connection reset by peer">>

Cannot start SSH at boot
On a particular CentOS 6 install, I must start SSH manually: # /etc/init.d/sshd start I have tried to configure it to start automatically: # chkconfig --level 3 sshd on However, it still must be manually started. I am not getting any errors. What might be preventing it from starting? Thanks. -- Dotan Cohen http://gibberish.co.il http://what-is-what.com

Conga / luci question
After playing with conga/luci i'm wondering that it's not possible to reset and/or remove the generated cluster configuration. Somebody knows how to achieve this? I did not find any hint in the RH manuals. Any chance to get a working, current openldap srpm/rpm for centos 5.5
Hello, is there anyone out there, who has a current 2.4.23 srpm or good how to compile it from src with supported db4? I tried to compile recent source files, but always finding the current (installed) db4 >4.3 fails. Than I tried to compile the LTB Project Files: http://ltb-project.org/wiki/documentation/openldap-rpm May be it is just a small step or option to be set. Would be nice to get

nfs slow?
Hi all, I'm migrating from Gentoo to CentOS... I'm experiencing a rather low performance in NFS r/w (as client). NFS server is solaris (which exports zfs volumes via nfs). The very same exports were mounted with the same parameters (auto, nosuid, exec) on gentoo and centos server (bot x86_64)... It happens that centos is 5-10 times slower either in read and write operations... Ok,

linuxthreads & Printers in Centos5...
Dear All, Firstly, many thanks for the hard work put in by the development team :) Now I have a couple of problems, any help welcome: 1) Some of our software needs linuxthreads (i.e. InsightII) but it's closed source and the writers (Accelrys) are unlikely to respin the code as they want us to move to a different program. Is there any way of installing another set of glibc libs on centos

LVM lvresize/lvextend requires some space in /etc to grow a logical volume?
Side note: In CentOS-6, I noticed a new option in lvresize / lvextend: -r, --resizefs Resize underlying filesystem together with the logical volume using fsadm(8). Nice. Two steps (lvresize and resize2fs) can now be combined into one! Works great. But that has nothing to do with my question, just thought I'd share the discovery. == Anyway, here's

Timezone confusion: net time \\server ...
Hi list, I am a bit confused how the time sync between samba and windows should be done correctly. On the samba server I have set the CMOS time to GMT (UTC) and my timezone is UTC+2 (germany). On windows the CMOS time is set to my timezone (windows can't handle UTC, did that change? XP here, but dualboot to linux) and as I issue net time \\server /set /YES it sets the time but minus one

add|delete user / group / machine ... scripts, is the "API" somewhere documented?
Hi folks, are there any more detailed docs about those scripts? I have some annoying issues there and I can't find anything about that in the docs. If using usrmgr.exe is it possible to tweak the "add user script" that the full name of a user is stored too, like if I add the user manually with adduser (debian) or useradd -c "Full Name" -m username on (most?) other

workgroup > join domain with same name = no issue? I don't get it
Hi list, right now I run a test setup for samba as a PDC, nearly everything works great but I have some issues / questions. One is related to the docs (samba howto collection), there is stated that it is not a good idea to have a local workgroup and create a domain with the exact same name and join the windows boxes ther. It is said that this will fail or at least it will have some problems. But

user / machine / group scripts, some work some don't
Hi List, I have some issues with user manager for domains (srvtools.exe from MS) and the scripts mentioned in the subject. The examples from the samba howto collection seem to cause serious issues here. I am on debian etch and tried to create my own scripts but till now to now avail. With the examples from the docs I could add groups, but could not add users to groups. There was the option -A
