Help needed to compile R with shared library.
...en making a shared object; recompile with -fPIC
CConverters.o: could not read symbols: Bad value
collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
It saysm "recompile with -fPIC" But I am already
doing so, am I not? What am I doing wrong here?
Any help would be appreciated.

Trouble with installing Rmpi package

I don't see libR.so in my installation directory
...little r. The installation
material stated to look for libR.so, and I want
to make sure that the one I installed (2.9.0)
is used by little r.
Would someone please clue me in? Why don't I
have libR.so and yet when I execute ./bin/R
it says:
R version 2.9.0 (2009-04-17)

trouble with installing Biobase package
...rary/Biobase'
It is choking at not finding a function "numeric_version". Has anybody
seen this before and have any insight to the solution? I would appreciate
a bit of helping hand.
The platform I am on is Dell 64-bit server, running redhat enterprise
server.

I updated/reinstalled ggplot2 and the trouble started...
...is not supported on this device: reported only once per page
The entire record of installing ggplot2 package, ending
up with the line above is in the attached file. I would
think this should be reproducible with anybody else.
If you have any other suggestion, I am all ears.

Newbie R question

I execute this file as:
R --no-save < barebone.R
And it does what I expect. What I get is 20+/- lines
of text, one of which is 'Hello World!'.
How would I go about getting rid of all but the line I
am after, 'Hello World!'?

my little r is sick

It worked fine a few days ago, but now it says:
r: error while loading shared libraries: libR.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
The big brother (R) has no problem.
Can somebody please tell me what's going on?

How do I put ldpaths in a specific place?
...but when I tested it with:
/usr/sbin/chroot /mnt/ami-centos5.5-64bit-base R
It told me:
/bin/R: line 217: /mnt/ami-centos5.5-64bit-base/lib64/R/etc/ldpaths: No such file or directory
Question:
How can I direct ldpaths file into this directory?

Rpad installation help wanted (from NEWBIE)
...picious mind tells me maybe lib.loc in the line:
file <- system.file("CONTENTS", package = pkg, lib.loc = lib.loc)
should be be changed to:
lib.loc = '/usr/local/lib64/R/library'
Can anyone please clue me in? Any tip would be appreciated.

trouble with installing pbatR
...> install.packages(lib='/usr/local/apps/R-2.8.1/lib64/R/library', "pbatR")
it detects lack of rootSolve package and attempts to install it. But
cannot seem to compile it, and the rest is aborted.
Any hint as to what I can do?
