CVS woes under HPUX 10.20
...ings for availability of getspnam, bigcrypt, getprpwnam, and set_auth_parameters (in config.cache) and for the related defines in config.h (plus HAVE_PUTPRPWNAM). Needless to say, I'm totally confused. Make gets all the way to the passdb section and falls down thusly: <---make's death throes follows---> Compiling passdb/pass_check.c cc: "passdb/pass_check.c", line 732: warning 527: Integral value implicitly converted to pointer in assignment. cc: "passdb/pass_check.c", line 732: warning 563: Argument #1 is not the correct type. cc: "passdb/pass_check.c"...

Couple more problems (ov_open_callbacks)
I'm in the final throes of debugging (hopefully) and the last thing I'm trying to do is figure out why I'm getting static instead of usable data. I have a verified Ogg file (it plays fine in WMA); I've visibly inspected the info struct and it matches my output format; I've verified my audio playback code...

REST/XMLRPC backward compatibility?
Hi all, I''m in the throes of the REST conversion and I''m wondering: How important is it to retain backward compatibility? The language will clearly be consistent between the two, but it looks like it''s going to be a heckuva lot more complicated to keep compatibility for all network services (as i...

Syncing passwd and smbpasswd
...to Mr Fenwick and others for posting the workaround for the NT 4.0 SP 3 update issue. A number of users do not have direct access to a shell, with their profile execing a financials application. This makes syncing password changes a problem as password ageing is enforced. I am in the "final throes" of completing a Perl script that will check the ageing info (HP/UX 9.03 - non shadow implementation) and run smbpasswd when it detects that the user has had to change their account password. Because the ageing works on storing update info with a "weeks since epoch" counter, I have d...

Question about mail storage
I am in the throes of trying to understand all the issues of transforming an old UW Imap server with mbox (I think) INBOX format running sendmail and procmail serving 3500 users to dovecot and maildir format. Currently, the folders are under ~/mail and the INBOXes are under /var/spool/mail. If I understand correctly...

Non-meritocratic t.&a. projects will be damned. Re: I am leaving llvm
What unmitigated bullshit. Your attempt at logic is laughable. You hold up threadbare stereotypes as the norm, when in reality they are little more than characters straight out of Central Casting. The "genius hermit who can't associate with people" is dumb and false. It's meant to excuse behavior that is unacceptable, when in reality a person who cannot interact with people is

Non-meritocratic t.&a. projects will be damned. Re: I am leaving llvm
(Here follows the same email but hopefully properly formatted, with each newline doubled to two as the list engine seems to need it, and mangled to 80 characters line width.) Non-meritocratic technology and academic projects will be damned. This is a general response to Renato's response to Rafael's post, and also to the media discussion sparked by this thread at

Non-meritocratic t.&a. projects will be damned. Re: I am leaving llvm
Hello everyone. Please keep discussion civil and productive. I’d suggest moving general discussions of social behavior and norms off the llvm-dev list. These discussions are generally quite off topic and draw more heat than light. I’d prefer it if we all just move on. I obviously do not know who “unnamed poster” is, but I am also specifically concerned about people who are not LLVM
