Virtual mailboxes and subfolders
Hello again, I'd like to know if there is a way to have subfolders in virtual mailbox? In my virtual namespaces, I have some virtual maiboxes named like this : Mailbox Mailbox.SubMailbox (the separator is '.') But when I try to access the submailbox, depending on my client, it either : - Tells me the mailbox doesn't exists (Roundcube) - Don't show me

How do I use plus-addressing in Dovecot 1.1.x?
I'm using Postfix, Amavisd-new/SpamAssassin, and Dovecot. They all run on the same server (running Linux). The mailboxes are stored on the same server in maildir format. The logical path for incoming messages (as I understand it) is: 1) received by Postfix; handed off to Amavisd-new 2) Amavisd-new checks to see whether or not it's spam/undesirable; hands off to Dovecot deliver 3)

plus addressing bug in dovecot 1.1.x?
...at domain.com", and having dovecot (dovecot LDA, specifically), deliver this to the "spam" submailbox to "user at domain.com". I've been using this successfully since 1.0.3. When I upgraded to 1.1.0, I noticed that e-mails were no longer being delivered to the submailboxes as they had been (though they would arrive in the central INBOX). I checked the "dovecot-deliver.log", and I noticed that, ever since I had brought up 1.1.0, I would see: save failed to spam: Unknown namespace ("spam" is the submailbox) After the upgrade to 1.1.1, I still...

Multiple quota rules from LDAP userdb?
Hello, I'm just asking myself, how I get multiple quota rules into the LDAP userdb. Dovecot is 2.2.9 userdb_attrs = ? fooQuotaRule=quota_rule=%$ which allows me to have an user db entry as fooQuotaRule: *:storage=1000:messages=50 fooQuotaRule: Trash:storage=500 But, if I'd like to have another quota rule for a submailbox of that user? doveadm user returns the first

We had a user quit recently. Three days ago I copied his entire Maildir folder to another user to that user's Maildir/.JoesEmail. I changed ownership and made the permission 'chmod -R og-rwx .', just like all the other files/directories of the new owner. This didn't work to show the new folder. Today, in his Thunderbird client, I subscribed to the 'JoesEmail' folder. I

Shortly after this post, I found a solution here: http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=1097725 In order to see the .Dennis\ Email.Dennis\ Inbox sub-folder you have to collapse and re-expand the folder list in Thunderbird. It's that simple ... AND that annoyingly obscure! Thanks for your help! --Mark -----Original Message----- From: Mark Foley <mfoley at ohprs.org> Date: Thu,

mbox and maildir
Is it possible to mix maildir and mbox formats with dovecot? For example, I would like ~/mail to be in maildir format yet keep the inbox (/var/mail/%u) in mbox format. If so, how may I go about this? Or am I stuck not being able to create subdirectories in ~/mail? Cheers, Shane

TB, dovecot & trailing slash - again
Hi there, I have been browsing the mailing list archives in search of a solution to my problem, related to the quite infamous "trailing slash" issue with Thunderbird, but I don't seem to have found any closely related discussion. Please forgive me if this problem has already found a solution. Here I go; We use a lot of TB clients (2.x and 3.x), and we are using Dovecot 1.2.4

ACL syntax for setting specified folders within Maildir/ read-only for owner
Hi, I have dovecot (2.2.16, see dovecot -n at end) installed to /opt on CentOS 6 for access on a local network. I would like to create an archival mail account which will reduce the primary account file size and still make older emails easily accessible. How can I set specified folders in this Maildir read-only with ACL? For example, I included this in the dovecot-acl file to specify

RFC 5258 violation: incomplete response for "LIST ($OPT RECURSIVEMATCH) ..."
Hi there, RFC 5258 (IMAP4 LIST command extensions) defines a ?RECURSIVEMATCH? selection option which ?forces the server to return information about parent mailboxes that don't match other selection options, but have some submailboxes that do.? (Section 3.5 makes the requirement even clearer.) However that's not what Dovecot 2.3.7 does. AFAICT no LIST response is returned for mailboxes that don't meet the selection criteria, regardless of whether they have a child that does. The violation is visible when reproducing...

Storage - posibilities?
Hi all. Currently I am administering a mail cluster in which messages are stored on software RAID shared with NFS. There are several NFS servers, every one of them exports a part of all mail files for a specific frontend with postfix. We are thinking about replacing these storage hosts with one solution, maybe a storage array with appropriate disk space and I/O capacity. What are pros and cons

Sharing nested folders / maildir variations?
...ay ":". Then, folder foo/bar is subdirectory .foo:bar." It says some other stupid things too though that nobody seems to actually follow, and I've never actually seen anything but a '.' used as the delimiter... The same is true in IMAPdir: "As with Maildir++, submailboxes can not be represented in a recursive fashion in the file system. The mailbox' representation name will contain the soft hierarchy delimiter character dot '.', and all mailboxes must reside in the same root level directory." I don't understand the reasoning behind avoi...

Cannot delete IMAP Mail-Folder in Trash
We have the same problem, with a twist. When Thunderbird deletes a folder, it is still shown by the GUI. Dovecot deleted the folder correctly, and the sunscriptions file is also correct. Some other times, on shared folders, Thunderbird refuses to delete; in this case, apple mail on iphone can delete successfully. This suggests that the problem is in Thunderbird's code.
