Doing and storing a Writeboard like diff in RoR
Hello all,
Anyone have any suggestions on how I could do and display a diffed piece of
text in a style similar to Writeboard (strikeouts etc.)
Q1) Are there any ruby gems for diff?
Q2) How would I represent the diffed text in styled HTML?
If there are existing tools, any ideas on how I could write this?
Thanks,
Vaishal

directory structure problems
Hi. New to linux. When I try to run something under wine (installation of
windows program), I get the following error. My system is running
linux-only RH7.3. I've gone into the /config file with pico and tried
changing from c:\windows\temp to c:\temp with and without the double \\.
This resulted in a single install going presumably okay (I have no idea how
to LAUNCH the program I just

Pandoc supports a number of extensions to standard markdown syntax (all

A Suggestion for Strikethrough Syntax
All,
Hopefully, I'm not covering old territory, and a search of the list
archives seems to indicate that I'm not. If I am, then I extend my
apologies in advance.
I use strikethrough a lot so I modify my Movable Type Markdown module
as shown below, right about line 1040 or so. I assume other Markdown
implementations can use this change as well:
sub _DoItalicsAndBold {

Pandoc supports strict markdown syntax, plus a number of extensions,
including several kinds of tables, definition lists, fancy ordered
lists, automatically numbered example lists, delimited code blocks
with built-in syntax highlighting, title blocks, smart punctuation,
strikeout, and super/subscripts.
LaTeX math (and even macros) can be used in markdown documents. Eight
different methods of rendering math in HTML are provided, including
MathJax and translation to MathML. LaTeX math is rendered in docx using
native Word equation objects.
Pandoc includes a powerful system...

Great work!
I've just spent a happy couple of days writing a text file for formatting with
Markdown. The results are phenomenal! It's easy to write, and attractive to
read. I'll try to send a Christmas present to the writer :-)
But when I looked at the perl source, I also found that it was small and
well-structured. Of course, I couldn't resist adding a few things that appealled
to me.

Strikethroughs and dashes
Who really uses strikethroughs?? This is one of the most common
tripwires in RedCloth.
You are the friend--the only friend--who has offered to help.
Obviously em dashes.
I died in -2006- wait, no, two-thousand-FIVE!
Obviously strikethrough.
I''m going on a trip - a long one - to the Virgin Islands.
That''s got to be en dashes.
Such a cheap, no-hassle, no-worry
