run smbmount, it's really smbclient? If I can't use smbmount, then I can't
mount my NT server. smbsh isn't worth crap, it always segfaults on me. I'm
running libc5.5.46. Can anyone help me?

R is compiled using the
"-fPIC -O3 -fstrict-aliasing -ffast-math -funroll-loops -mpentiumpro -march=pentiumpro -fschedule-insns2"
compiler switches. I used
./configure --with-g77 --enable-blas_risc --enable-readline --with-x

apple mail, and mails marked as deleted
hi,
is this a feature or a bug in conjunction with apple mail. i usually
use the feature in imap to not delete the emails, but only mark them as
deleted, which is a very usefull feature if you use a emailbox with
more people accessing it. Im now trying an SME server installation with
dovecot 0.99.10, and when i delete a message, it gets marked as
deletet, but as soon as i change the mailbox

stat() failed with mbox /var/mail/%u
Hello,
Over the last 12 hours or so, I've been wrestling with a mysterious
dovecot issue. After upgrading a mail server I'm helping my friend with
maintaining from Fedora Core1 to Fedora Core4, I realized that I
couldn't use UW-IMAP4 anymore (well, I can compile it myself, but it
turned out that UW-IMAP was the main cause of the server's having load
average as high as 30 from

dovecot 0.99.14 and imaps (SSL) "hangs"
Hello,
I just decided to try dovecot again after a long pause, and I must say
that I am very impressed with the speed and resource usage, even when
running with UNIX mailboxes.
However, I have a problem with SSL. Every two minutes the connection is
frozen, and the client has to reconnect after it times out waiting for
a response from the server.
My IMAP client fetches all headers, and then

Simulate an AR(1) process via distributions? (without specifying a model specification)
Dear All,
Is it possible to simulate an AR(1) process via a distribution?
I have simulated an AR(1) process the usual way (that is, using a model
specification and using the random deviates in the error), and used the
generated time series to estimate 3- and 4-parameter distributions (for
instance, GLD). However, the random deviates generated from these
distributions do not follow the

geometric mean of probability density functions
Hi,
This is my first time posting to the mailing list, so if I'm doing something
wrong, just let me know. I've taken ~1000 samples from 8 biological
replicates, and I want to somehow combine the density functions of the
replicates. Currently, I can plot the density function for each biological
replicate, and I'd like to see how pool of replicates compares to a
simulation I conducted

Wish list
...cases I could use R
simplifying development into a single environment
(viz. R).
The following are not in any order.
1. Self Contained Executables
Make it possible to create self contained R
executables. Something like tcl starkits
http://www.equi4.com/starkit.html
or Python py2exe
http://starship.python.net/crew/theller/py2exe
is what I am thinking of. Its ok if they
are interpreted as long as its all transparent.
2. R as a Filter
Support using R as a filter analogously to
awk/gawk. e.g.
echo a x 3 | R -f myprog.R | findstr /i answer
echo a x 3 | R -e "chartr('x',...

Vis5D interface package
...ng the data to a regular grid is
not always the best way to go.
Does anyone have experience with R, netCDF and/or Vis5D who would be
willing to donate some code? The scientific python package has a
netCDF module, which I am currently looking into (but don't hold your
breath...):

Any other help or suggestion is also appreciated.
Thanks.

Checking remote servers

(Hmm... a cracker could modify the shutdown scripts to restore
the original versions of binaries, so the verify would report nothing.
Perhaps even the check from floppy is no guarantee of anything.)
Any suggestions?
