continuous access to printer causes high memory usage
...reeing the memory.
Apart from this, samba keeps on running fine.
Investigation of a level 3 debug log of this process has shown that the
client (a Windows XP machine) is accessing one of the samba printers almost
continuously, with four rpc calls: SPOOLSS_OPENPRINTEREX,
SPOOLSS_GETPRINTERDATA, SPOOLSS_CLOSEPRINTER and SPOOLSS_ENUMJOBS.
The printer driver is installed on the samba server. The client is
configured to use the printer via a Samba port. When the printer is removed
from the client, the rapid calls stop. When the printer is installed again,
the calls again occur in rapid succession.

Continual lib/access.c:check_access - what's it mean?
When I look at the log file for a particular user, I see the following,
about every 11-12 minutes. The only thing I'm using my Samba server for
is acting as a master browser, and print server (with CUPS). There are
no domain logons.
This activity in the log file keeps going well beyond when a print job
is complete.

samba printing from 64-bit windows server 2008
I have a redhat EL5 samba server hosting a collection of printers and
joined to a domain. I can connect to this server and print happily from
a 32-bit XP box on the domain, but a 64-bit windows server 2008 box
cannot connect, and returns the error 0x000006d1.
I get the same results with samba 3.0.33 (came with redhat), 3.5.3 (the
latest from sernet), and 3.3.12 (this message from the

Printing Issues with NT type Clients.
Hi. To begin with, I have a freshly built RedHat Linux 8.0 box running samba 2.2.8a. The kernel version is 2.4.18-14. I downloaded and compiled samba from source. I am using LPRng-3.8.9-6 as my printing system. The attached printer is a Lexmark Z22 printer and it is attached to the parralel port.
Problem:
For the life of me, I can't get NT type clients, NT4, 2K and XP to print to samba.

printing problem
Hi,
We have had a server crash and are now unable to print from the connected pc's
I have installed samba 2.2.7a and use the sysv printing system
The printers are configured using HP hppi
>From the unix host I can send a print to the printer
I have already checked the spool directory for the printers. and the spool directory that is used by the hppi daemon. They exist.
In the user log file
