SoundExchange (a division of the RIAA) offers a compulsory license at .07 cents per song per listener, for every song you play. There *was* a deal for an alternative percent of revenue royalty, but the legislation authorizing this had a sunset clause of December 2002. C) Switch your Internet connection to...

...age) to collect listener time stats. The listener stats (the id, ip and connected) is vital for building the logs that StreamLicensing.com needs. Due to this SL can only support Shoutcast v1, SHoutcastv2 and Icecast-KH. These stats are vital for the calculation and reporting of the royalties to SoundExchange and various PROs. This causes a small issue as server hosting companies only support Icecast (not the -KH branch), and Centova Cast (which many hosters use for their backend) do not support Icecast-KH either. This causes a deadzone where Icecast 2.4 can not be used as the streaming server. I...

Q. What rate has SoundExchange proposed in the arbitration? A. While SoundExchange continues to negotiate deals tailored to individual needs, it has asked an arbitration panel to set the industry rate for webcasters as follows: * Webcasters (including AM/FM webcasters) may choose to pay either $0.004 (four-tenths of on...

Logging songs played by Icecast server
Hello all, I skimmed the last year's worth of messages and all the docs and could find no reference to this. I'm hoping someone here can assist. I am a host for an Internet radio station, and we gave about 20 DJs. Each host determines their own playlist and uses a variety of tools to broadcast to the Icecast server (e.g. SAM2, SimpleCast, etc.). Since we do not have a set playlist for

...ons? I actually have a patch for icecast that adds the ability to logs metadata changes. I created a somewhat arbitrary format (pipe delimited with the fields : datestamp|mountpoint|listeners|metadata) however I'm open to discussion of what a proper format for this should be. I know that SoundExchange has some reporting requirements, not sure if there are other organizations that require this type of thing. I was planning on committing what I had with the format I've defined, but I'd also like to get input from people who would actually use this kind of thing...ideas ? for the reco...

...royalty collector purposes could be implemented (Icecast 2.5? 2.6? 2.7? 3.0 ?) for the long run as suggested earlier by whomever it was (sorry I forgot). Todays "hammering" once every minute or so is not the best design (being a programmer I'm well aware of that). I'm sure even SoundExchange and the acronyms out there would not mind standardizing some of the info presented (to allow accurate geographical stats that still respect privacy) if it means they'll get even more accurate data than currently. -- Roger "Rescator" H?gensen. Hmm, thanks for summarizing this. Great, so should we file with SoundExchange or wait for the RIAA to pick a rate? I'm emailing sound exchange, I think it would be great if they charged us %15 of our gross revenue, hell I would gladly pay them %100 of $0. Even if they insisted on collecting $0.004 per performance I don't think we have even 100000 "performance...

passing function parameters into a 'with' statement to dynamically pick out columns
Hi, I've built a function to generate plots and would like to be able pass in column names as a parameter. Here's a boiled down version of what I have right now: pmts <- data.frame(date=c(1,2,3), all=c(5,6,7),maj=c(4,5,6),ind=c(3,4,5)) perc.mktshare <- function(df){ range1 <- floor(min(with(df, 100*ind/all))) range2 <- ceiling(max(with(df, 100*ind/all)))
