autotest displays no output
...something is going wrong. I made a very simple testing environment with a user.rb and user_spec.rb file. Rspec works fine, but autotest outputs nothing - it just stays here, idle. ^C doesn''t display anything more. I can see it''s running because I added require ''autotest/snarl'' in my .autotest file. And Snarl tells me "Autotest was started" when I start it, and "autotest was reset" when I ^C. But absolutely no log, no information. Nothing happens either when I modify a user.rb/user_spec.rb. Very strange. * Windows XP SP2 * Ruby 1.8.6 * RSpe...

GRUB, and how do I loathe thee
...ns: on my home system, it was MRR on /dev/hda (which was being replaced, and was to become my backup drive), and here, in the MBR of the USB key; in both cases, *only* in the first sector of a partition on the new drive. I am NEVER OFFERED THE OPTION of the MBR of the drive I'm installing to. *snarl* mark "no grub, then linux rescue, then chcon, then grub install... I hope"

Autotest and RSpect
I managed to have Autotest running on my windows box. Apparently all is working but every time I know there is an error a new line is generated, no error messages or anything is sent to the console. I am using pastie now (thanks to David), please go to: http://pastie.caboo.se/106155 Daniel -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Copy data from XP to same app under Wine??
With snarls and curses and gnashing of teeth, I still keep one laptop and one dual-bootable PC hard drive with XPProSP2 installed. (Everything else is Fedora 10.) I do so purely for one class of apps, proprietary map software. Wine can now install and run at least one, and the most important, of the f...

mysql
Hello, Does dovecot require mysql in order to work? Fedora rpms are claiming mysql dependencies. I'm sure you're aware of the long-lived arguement of postgresql v. mysql. If it wasn't your intention to force this, then please snarl at Red Hat. If it was your intention, then grrrrr! Thanks for this product. I like it for it's speed and stability. Jim Edwards

Forensics CD Toolkit for FreeBSD
Hi, I'd like to build a toolkit CD specifically for conducting forensics on FreeBSD. I'm not talking about a bootable CD but rather one that I could pop into a CD ROM drive and run trusted commands like ps, netstat, ls, etc., from. I'd like to build a CD that would work on -RELEASE versions of FreeBSD like 5.1 and -STABLE versions of FreeBSD too. Can anyone give me any pointers

Re: Windows versus Unix packages in CRAN ...
...uous in claiming that getting the Rmetrics package to go under Linux is transparent. If you have to dig into the code and edit it, then transparent it ain't. It may be perfectly easy ***once you know what you're doing***, but that's a big ``once''. It is particularly unfair to snarl exasperatedly at inquirers for not reading the instructions --- as someone did recently --- when there are in fact NO instructions telling you that you have to dig in and edit the code. And I think it is perfectly ***fair*** to say to say that the package maintainers could and should have done a b...

efficiently replacing values in a matrix
Hello all, I should probably know this by now... Anyway: I have a large matrix (dim(data) is 3000 18000). In each element are one of the following character strings "0/0", "1/1", "1/2", "2/2". I wanted to replace "0/0" with NA and the other three with 0,1,2 respectively. To accomplish just the first of these four steps I did this:

SwitchTower CVS support
I did an svn up this morning and discovered this whole new bundle of code! Lookingn through it it looks cool, but there''s no CVS support for an SCM - I''d have thought this would be more widely used than darcs. Looking at the code for subversion.rb and I thought it''d be possible to add a new scm - CVS. I''m running into 3 problems: 1- I''m still

All, Mongrel 1.1.3 Rails 2.0.2 Ruby 1.8.6 Windows XP SP2 When I issue the command "ruby script/server" from any of my Rails projects on v. 2.0.2, I get a Windows dialog with the error: "The application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found.
