Users and shares disappeared
Hi,
I had a weird problem this morning.
My users and all of the shares are gone.
I tried to restart samba but that was not helped, wbinfo -u could not show
any user.
Restarted bind9 tho..nothing happend.
What kind of process could do this?
As a last chance I restarted the server..that helped.

Failover
Hai,
Samba 4.1.5
I have an old problem with my failover IP/name which is
10.48.16.155/domaincha.
The 2 servers IP address and DNS names are 10.48.16.150/domainc01 and
10.48.16.151/domainc02.
Domaincha always points to the "active" server so when any of the servers
dies my users couldn't see anything, and also i can set up home directories
to point the failover address instead of 1

Correct NTP Settings for Samba 4.0.6?
Hello,
I recently compiled Samba 4.0.6 (as an AD DC) and am running it on Ubuntu 12.04.
I followed the instructions on the Samba wiki (https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_NTP)
for how to configure ntp, however the domain clients are rejecting the DCs as
being acceptable time sources. Below is my ntp.conf:
server 127.127.1.0
fudge 127.127.1.0 stratum 10
server 0.pool.ntp.org iburst

Time sync
Hy Guys,
My samba version: 4.0.13
ntp version: 4.2.6p3
Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS
I have a weird problem, I sat up the time service via
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_NTP
On the servers I have no firewall.
This port is open when i check with nmap, ntp runs.
Looks like all of my Windows 7 clients works fine but w32tm /resync says
Permission denied 0x8007005, so not that good :)

Two domains, same users
Hi,
I have two LDAP domains, which has some equal users, eg:
abc at domain1.com
abc at domain2.com
I sat up this config:
domain1 users maildirs are stored in /home/vmail/username
domain2 users maildirs are stored in /home/vmail/domain2/username
This works fine except one thing: i cant set up the ldap query to choose
the correct maildir if the user names are equal.
Is it possible to use a

Samba3 ACL
Hi,
I'm currently using an old Samba 3.6.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
Now it is required to use ACL's.
Unfortunately, the Samba is running without the "HAVE_LIBACL" build option,
my question is:
how can i (re)configure it to enable ACL support via package manager?
OFC i installed the required packages.
Thanks, Robert

Im just curious
Hi,
Is it possible (well, look like it works) to include a preconfigured
bind zone to samba named.conf, so I don't get that annoying zone
conflict error message while I start bind?
Actualy, the important question is, this kind of configuration could
interfere with samba4 if the server is configured to use BIND9_DLZ?

failover shares
Hi,
I have a failover configuration.
The domain controller's IP: 10.23.14.150 as dc01
The failover IP is: 10.23.14.155 as dcha
I added an A and a CNAME record to the dns for the failover IP.
It is working, i can see the shares, but I could not enter to any share as
user, as Administrator it works.
I tried to add the interface variable (i am not sure this is available in
samba4), that

Local login
Hi,
I tested my failover yesterday and a strange problem came up.
While my dc01 was down I could not login on dc02 with any of my local
accounts.
After dc01 was online again, login was OK.
My nsswitch.conf is a "regular" file:
passwd: compat winbind
group: compat winbind
shadow: compat
As I read about nsswitch, with this config it should try to authenticate

Upgrade
Hi Guys,
Well I made a bad decision and installed Samba4 from zentyal repo, I would
like to upgrade it, is it enough to backup all files from %installation
folder%/private directory and then copy into the newly installed version's
private folder?
Thanks, Robert

I have a serious problem with my Samba 4.0.5 and it is getting often and
often.
Usualy when a user would like to renam e a file samba crashes and lock out
the user.
Nothing works just server restart and I mean the entire server not just
samba, if I restart samba..nothing happens, the user(s) could not reach
their shares.
I attached a log about the problem.
Thanks, Robert

CONNECTION_REFUSED
Hello,
I am using Samba 4.0.5 and got this kind of error messages in samba.log
(loglevel 2).
While this happens getent passwd shows no domain users, but everyone could
reach all of the shares.
Any idea what could cause this kind of error messages?

Shares
Hai,
As I know i could open my shares via domain eg: \\domainc.com\share
I have 2 samba 4.1.5 server and one win2003 DC.
Succesfully made a clustered filesystem so now both servers (except
win2003) can open the shares.
My problem is: i succesfully opened the share yesterday, it worked well one
time but since that i couldnt open it via \\domain.com\share only via
\\dc01\share or \\dc02\share.

Failover
Hi guys,
I have a domain with Samba 4.0.5 domain controllers and also a failover
DRBD shared disk, where the "active" DC controlls the access to the disk.
DOMAINC01 - 10.48.16.150
DOMAINC02 - 10.48.16.151
DOMAINCHA - 10.48.16.155 << this would be the failover IP, which works
perfectly on Windows XP clients.
I can see the shares, just like on DOMAINC01 or DOMAINC02 and if the
