Idealx programs and ldap backend
Hi, I got the following setup. I got a openLDAP server. This server is the master server for LDAP functions. I named this ldapsrv. I got a samba server with openLDAP install on it as well. This LDAP server is the slave to ldapsrv. I named this sambasrv. The sambasrv currently have the following setup in /etc/smb.conf:- passdb backend = ldapsam:ldap://ldapsrv.domain idmap backend = ldap://ldapsrv.domain add user script = /var/lib/samba/sbin/smbldap-useradd.pl -a -m '%u' delete user script = /var/lib/samba/sbin/smbldap-userdel.pl '%u&...

Hide share with a twist
I'm setting up a single SAMBA server that will have different netbioses names: netbios aliases SAMBASRV BACKUPSRV Then I have two shares defined, [assets] and [digital], different path on both. Now, when I connect to \\SAMBASRV from my windows machine, I see both the 'assets' and 'digital' shares available. Same if I connect to \\BACKUPSRV. Is there a way to hide a shar...

...a domain logon server. The NT box happily accepted mounts from users originally only known only to Samba. Everything fine again, but the next day they came in and told me about people finding complete new mounts on their workstations. To describe this: A user normally has C: local H: \\SAMBASRV\HOMES Z: \\SAMBASRV\HISGROUP These are mounted by a local script and it worked smooth until I added the domain logon server. Today they find things like: C: local H: \\SAMBASRV\HOMES W: \\SAMBASRV\HOMES X: \\SAMBASRV\HOMES Y: \\SAMBASRV\HOMES Z: \\SAMBASRV\HISGROUP This is...

Erreur réseau inattendue
Hello, My linux server (kernel 2.0.36 + samba 2.0.4) has successfully joined my Nt domain (with smbpasswd -j <NTDOM> -r <NTPDC>), and the 2 daemons start ok, but I cannot browse the computer in the Network Neighbourhood, i get : \\SAMBASRV n'est pas accessible Erreur réseau inattendue. which means \\SAMBASRV is not accessible. Unexpected network error. Is something missing ? Help ! The smb.conf I use was working on another server before. I just cannot open the computer icon in Net. Neighbourhood. Stéphane Fromholtz

user name with a dot not working
...' (/home/jsmith). So I'm trying to map 'j.smith' (windows user name) to 'jsmith' (linux user name). But the problem is that when I try to access shares on samba server I get NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD. I'm sure the password is entered correctly. [me@pc41 me]$ smbclient //SAMBASRV/webpages -U 'j.smith' added interface ip=10.92.32.33 bcast=10.92.255.255 nmask=255.255.0.0 Password: Domain=[MYDOMAIN] OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 2.2.7a-security-rollup-fix] tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_WRONG_PASSWORD and in a log file on samba server I see: [2003/12/16 17:53:39, 0] smbd/pa...

AD integration: "getent passwd" can't see *new* users, but "wbinfo -u" can
..."smbtest". I then look for the user with "wbinfo -u", and it shows up. However, it does not show up with "getent passwd" (same for groups, "getent group"). If I try to map a share to a drive letter, it goes something like this: C:\WINDOWS>net use h: \\SAMBASRV\smbtest /user:DOMAIN\smbtest password System error 1326 has occurred. Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. (The same results occur for existing shares, so it's not from lack of a home directory) Of particular interest is log.winbindd-idmap. Whenever I try to connect as the us...

Samba and Solaris automounter.
Mick Cranston found an interesting and useful converse to my "add -browse to Solaris automounts" comment: He had mapped | a drive (for example g:) from my pc to \\sambasrv\net, then clicked on g: | in Explorer, Explorer would take 10-20 minutes to come back. Plus it was | eating my server alive because it was making all the NFS mounts possible | in /net. This is related to my warning about not setting client-side browser options that would require the server d...

Authentication problems with win2k3 domain controller
Hi I'm having problems with samba-3.0.21b and Windows Server 2003 domain controllers. When I try to access the samba server from a client (\\sambasrv) I only get a login prompt, no username/password combination works. Accessing the samba server through its IP-number instead of using the netbios name works. This together with the log message "Failed to verify incoming ticket!" suggests this is some kind of kerberos error. Samba is link...

Samba + winbind :shared resource not found
...ps. All seems to be ok. Through the Midnight Commander, selecting FILE ->CHOWN I can see all users (FreeBSD + Win NT). Within the NT domain , I?m the user "clau", I used to log to the NT domain thru an Win 98 wkstation. Browsing the "network neighborhood" ,clicking on \\HOME\SambaSrv i see a folder named "clau". Doing double click appears the message "Shared resource not found"- It appears to be a permision problem. What i am doing wrong ? Below I give you my smb.conf: [global] idmap uid = 10000-20000 idmap gid = 10000-20000 #winbind separator = + winbind...
