Is X79 Motherboard supported by latest "Centos 5.9" version?
Hi Guys, In a bit of a pickle.. Is anyone running the latest "Centos 5.9" or earlier version with an Intel X79 based motherboard. I have a server which needs the motherboard replacing asap and I have a spare "Sabertooth X79". I have a machine with a "Sabertooth X79" motherboard to test on which boots up fine on on "Centos 5.9 i386" image from the troubled server. However the output from "lspci" (see below) seems far less descriptive than you normally see in "Centos 5&quo...

Debugging Windows 10 Guest Flakiness
...tc/libvirt/libvirtd.conf and have monitored the log file during one of these hangs, but I don't see any obvious errors or problems in the log file itself (and there's a lot of information to sort through, so I may have missed something). Some specifics about my setup: Motherboard: ASUS Sabertooth X79 CPU: Intel i7 4930K Host GPU: GeForce GT 730 Guest GPU: GeForce GTX 780 Virtual network interface: NAT with the virtio driver I'm *reasonably* confident that the problem is not with the GPU passthrough setup, as I'm able to run FurMark (a GPU burn-in tool) on the guest with no proble...

How to boot linux kernel from Syslinux 6 with efi
...append root=/dev/sda3 ro \ ivrs_ioapic[7]=00:14.0 ivrs_ioapic[8]=00:00.1 # end: syslinux.cfg Same kernel command line currently works with grub-2.00 from efi booting from EFI System Partition on first hard drive. And also from gummiboot-32 from same usb flashdrive. Hardware I am using is: Asus Sabertooth 990FX w/ revision 1604 firmware. This was the mail I was composing before the release of yesterdays 6.02pre's. Last evening, I tried again with 6.02pre2 and the result was a kernel panic due to no root file system. My assumption is that this has been the error all along, but brought to light b...

New Install Plan Help - NIC Requirements
I would like to understand what may be needed/useful for the system NIC. My plan is to use an Asus mb, Sabertooth or Crosshair.  They both have a single on-board Ethernet port.  I am wondering about the possibility/need to have a 2-port plug-in NIC.  A scenario is to have a domU Windows or Linux SVN/Apache/PostgreSQL VM and interact with it through another domU Windows or Linus VM.  I also may want to remote i...

ATI VGA Passthrough / Xen 4.2 / Linux 3.8.6
Hi, I''m trying to get VGA passthrough to work to an XP x64 guest, and I''m seeing "interesting" things happening. I''m using the kernel and userspace tools from here: http://xen.crc.id.au/support/guides/install/# on Scientific Linux 6. I gave up on trying to get an Nvidia card to work in the guest having read about the extra patches required to get a
