Bug in Sys.which()?
At a Windows command prompt:
C:\>which ls
/cygdrive/c/Rtools215/bin/ls
C:\>which perl
/cygdrive/c/perl/bin/perl
In R:
> Sys.which(c("ls", "perl"))
ls perl
"c:\\RTOOLS~3\\bin\\ls.exe" ""
Is this expected behavior?

Updated Windows toolchain
An updated toolchain is now being used for Windows' builds of R-devel:
details are in the R-admin manual and at
http://www.murdoch-sutherland.com/Rtools/ and
http://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/
Both 32- and 64-bit parts of the toolchain use v2.0.1 of the Mingw-w64
project's runtime and a beta of gcc 4.5.4: the Mingw.org project's
builds are no longer used. This should mean that

error of installing/building an R package (PortfolioAnalytics) on Win 7
Hi,
I am trying to install a package (PortfolioAnalytics) of R 2.15.2 on Win 7.
I have tried the following instructions on :
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11105131/cannot-install-r-forge-package-using-install-packages
I used svn checkout svn://svn.r-forge.r-project.org/svnroot/returnanalytics/ to
get the package and then copy it to my Win 7.
Then, on Win 7 I run:

ffsave problems
...ffsave(DATA, file='//N7700PRO/Datos/Datos_Servidor_Lucas/DATA')*
this gives me the next error:
*Error in system(cmd, input = filelist, intern = TRUE) : 'zip' not found*
I found that I needed to have some kind of Zip and UnZip tool, this comes
in Rtools, so I installed the Rtools *Rtools215* because I have installed
the R.2.15.1 version.
After installing the tools I keep getting the same problem, do I have to
re-configure something in R? or the tools are suposed to work alone after
installing?
If any can help me with this, I´d really appreciate it.
Lucas.

OpenMP problem with 64-bit Rtools
I've been getting pqR to work on windows systems, and in the process
have discovered various problems with R core versions of R and with
Rtools.
One is with the implementation of OpenMP in 64-bit Rtools. This
problem is in Rtools215 and Rtools33, and presumably all the ones in
between. You can see the problem with the following test program:
#include <stdio.h>
#include <omp.h>
static struct { omp_lock_t lock; char pad[20]; } s;
void show_pad(void)
{ int i;
for (i = 0; i<20; i++) printf(" %02x",s.p...

Numerical instability in new R Windows development version
I have a question concerning the new Windows toolchain for R >= 2.14.2.
When trying out my package 'pracma' on the win-builder development version
it will stop with the following error message:

> dblquad(f3, -1, 1, -1, 1) # 2.094395124 , i.e. 2/3*pi , err = 2e-8
