Rookie Question
Rookie Question When I try to add a client machine (Win2k) to the domain I receive the following error message. "Unknown user name or bad password." It is asking for a user and password of a user with permission to join the domain. So I use the following: Username: root Pass: secret. Is it impossible to add a user to the domain using only the GUI of the client pc? Any

Rookie Question - Change Computer Name
We have been able to successfully install / configure SAMBA on our LAN / WAN. Everything is working out just fine.. Just 1 little problem (And I'm sure it is something I screwed up or missed in the docs). When changing a computer name on the client PC (Win2k), I receive an "Access Denied" error. I've even tried using the root account to change the name with no avail.

rookie with text editing
Greetings, This might be a pretty basic question not even totally rails specific, but how do I control text editing using ruby on rails? For instance, I am using the ruby forum http://www.ruby-forum.com/topic/new as I type this and am typing into a textarea tag. I have this in my rails app and I want to know how to save the formatting - such as when I hit returns to go to a new line when I

rookie - mount nt share from Solaris 2.6?
I believe I know the answer, but I'd like to be certain, since I keep seeing references to things like smbmount and smbfs... Is it possible to mount an NT (4.0sp3) share onto a Solaris 2.6/Sparc? I just grabbed Samba 2.0.6. I suspect not (I don't see any smbmount or smbfs in my samba/bin directory). Will this ever be a possibility? If so, when? And, are there any other options for

Best Practices for rookie
I am interested in setting up Samba file services for our location and I am looking to find a "Best Practices" approach and configuration for use with an Active Directory controller. I have had some luck in setup Samba with local accounts, but Linux will be used increasingly in the months to come and I would like to build a file server that will validate file system access against AD

locate the rows in a dataframe with some criteria
Hi, netters, This is probably a rookie question but I couldn't find the answer after hours of searching and trying. Suppose there'a a dataframe M: x y 10 A 13 B 8 A 11 A I want to locate the rows where x >=10 and y="A". I know how to do it to vectors by using which, but how to do it with the dataframe? Thank you very much! Zhihua Li

Scatterplot with data grouped by color
Hi, I am a complete R rookie so this question is probably really simple but I haven't found an answer on the web that I can understand. My data frame has 3 columns, A, B and C. A and B have numbers (about 8000 rows), C is a factor which is either true or false. So I can plot A vs B with plot(dataframe$A, dataframe$B). However, I would like the points to be different colors depending

Underground Asterisk Command Set?
...eason I ask is that sometimes I see mention of an asterisk command and I scramble for my asterisk book (pdf) to look it up but can't find it in there. For example, I saw here last week people talking about the Set() application with the "If" conditional attached to it. How do we (us rookies) join this underground? Thank you. changing y-axis intervals in a boxplot
Dear R-users, I'm a bit of a rooky in R and do not know how to change the y-axis intervals of a boxplot. The y-axis in my boxplot ranges from 0 to 100 which is fine. The problem is the interval level in between. Now it increases with steps of 20 but I'd like to have it changed by steps of 5. Anyone knows how to do this in R? I used the following code for producing this boxplot:

[LLVMdev] Inserting a function call into bitcode
Hi Eli, Thanks for that. Rookie mistake on my side. It solves the linking issue. However, it was not the main problem. The problem is when I execute the linked file ( modified bitcode + file containing the function), I get an assertion error - Assertion `Addr && "Code generation didn't add function to GlobalAddress table!"' failed. So my main concern - is that a

samba will not work for me... :/
I've had this problem since FreeBSD 4.3. This problem continues with my FreeBSD 4.4 machine. I can't connect from my Win98se and Win2kPro machines to my FreeBSD 4.4 Samba server. I've tried it all... but still no luck. I've run smbd and nmbd manually with the "-D" parameter. I can connect internally from my FreeBSD 4.4 box using "./smbclient
