tilde username
...for authentication. If I write "ls -la
~username" in bash or ksh and press TAB or escape to resolve the
HOMEDIR the shell hangs until I cancel with Ctrl+C. After that I have
to restart winbind!
If I press enter after "ls -la ~username" it works. I use
samba3-winbind-3.0.28-35 on RHEL4U6 (32bit). Any idea?

I dont want it show as Domains1+user1, just want it to show as user1
I have winbind default domain = yes.
Anything has to be changed on smb.conf?

Active directory and winbind RID/SID to uid and gid maping across several linux servers
We are using a windows server 2003 active directory as our single sign
on server. I have been able to get our RHEL4U6 servers to authenticate
with active directory.
My concern is that the RID mapping to unix uid/gid range (15000-20000)
is stored locally on each machine in a tdb database. So far all of the
servers have produced the same mapping, but I do not think it is
guarantied. I think the fact that I do a wb...

Fwd: RHEL5 network throughput/scalability
...m the NFS sever on the other side of the nodes shows a
liner increment from around 100+Mbyte/sec up to 1Gbyte/sec, however when we
add another extra node to the equation the bandwidth/throughput becomes
erratic/inconsistent, and drops to around 500-700Mbyte/sec. however if i try
the same setup with RHEL4U6 i do not get the same behaviour it sustains the
bandwidth at 1Gbyte/sec. the setup is like this 48 nodes sharing 48 port
access switch that is up linked using 10g link to a CISCO 6509 switch which
is linked to a Clustered NFS File system that consist of eight heads where
each head linked using a 1...
