Hi Bharat/Philip, I haven't tested it yet. My systems are running RHAS 2.1. I'll come back to let you now the outcome. ...ing with no problems so far, and plan to > use it in production unless Oracle feels the combination is not yet > trustworthy. well - tough one, it works, but the big issue is that you rredologfile need to be contiguous on disk, otherwise you might have failures, exact same goes for rhel3 as rhas21. you can see that by running debugocfs eg : /ocfs/log/foo1.dbf -> debugocfs -f /log/foo1.dbf /dev/sdXXX that will show how many offsets (should only have one) in the extents if its more than 1, dd it over with a very large blocksize and see if that ends up being 1 contig file. if you do that,...

OCFS + RHS2.1 + RHAS3.0
Hi all Just need some ideas, is there any consideration if I collaborate OCFS + RHAS2.1 + RHAS 3.0 ( with 64bit Processor) in a RAC environment with 10 nodes. TIA Jeram

problems creating ocfs filesystem
Hello list users. I am trying to create an ocfs filesystem but when I execute the command says the following thing to me: rac01:~ # mkfs.ocfs -b 128 -g oinstall -u oracle -L ocfs_pruebas -m /opt/oracle/oradata/OCFS -p 755 /dev/sdf1 Error opening device /dev/raw/raw41. Not a directory But it isn't a raw device. Any one know why it search for a raw device ? Thanks <DIV><FONT

Summary of hangind HP proliant
Quick summary of the Issue I posted a few weeks go about a HP DL380G3 server running RHAS21 that was hanging under heavy disk IO. Server is 2x2.8GB hyper threading Xeons, 6GB 400Mhz RAM. It has a built in SmartArray 5i card that was mirroring 2 disks for root, and raid5-ing 4 disk for /apps_data. A multi GB tar could make the box unresponsive for several seconds. Through put to both volu...

Clarification on 1.0.14-1
I'm pleased to see that the new release has full support for asynchronous I/O. I was surprised, though, since I thought that the aio bug in the 2.4 kernels couldn't be fixed without breaking binary compatibility. Was there a special fix for this in the RHEL3 update 4 kernel? Anyway, thanks for all your efforts. We're looking forward to testing aio with the new version next week.

A couple more minor questions about OCFS and RHEL3
Oracle appears to have Wim chained in the basement, forced to answer mailing list questions at all hours. I do appreciate it. Our cluster has been stable since we installed RAC, but a few minor issues have me concerned. First, our storage array seems to maintain continuous low-level activity even when the database is shut down. The CPUs spend a modest amount of time in iowait state while this

Calculating volume size from superblock
Another simple question. How do I calculate the size of the volume from the superblock? Do I just use the two fields: u_int32_t s_blocksize_bits; /* Blocksize for this fs */ u_int32_t s_clustersize_bits; /* Clustersize for this fs */ What is the formula to use? Thanks, John
