Securid revisited
I read the thread on securid back in march. openssh doesn't support it
because it's propriatary, right? I understand that, however I've still
got a problem.
Work use securid *exclusively* using ssh2. It uses an authentication
protocol of securid-1 at ssh.com. The client side does *not* need the
securid propriatary stuff, no need for the include files or the library.
So, given that, i...

locking "issue"
...y to get some communication going on making it
evident to the devlopers of a software program.
I have strict locking = YES (which is by default set to NO) set
and I have been repeatedly told that there is a locking issue within SAMBA.
I don't believe this is the case as we are pushed towards a propriatary
client.
Basically it boils down to this...
1.) Samba has been stable...no/few issues
2.) Locking is set to strict...shouldn't have the issues that COMPANY X and
COMPANY Y had right?
3.)Why do I want to pay thousands of dollars because COMPANY X and COMPANY Y
couldn't figure out that locki...

Information on the DMC 800
...focus on engineering rather than marketing is that they are not
in the business of trying to control the marketplace with a lot propritary
hardware/software in it. Usually, quite the opposite.
I just saw an amazing item to me about the DMC 800, that it uses
conventional notebook PC hard drives, not propriatary. So as the technology
of the notebook PC disk drives improves and gets less expensive, you can
replace the DMC 800 drive with a standard notebook disk drive, Just like a
PC can with USB or IDE drives. No propriatary software needed to to run,
thereforer it is PC independent as long as there is a US...

QCOW - good choice?
Hi,
I want to ask if anyone of you is familiar with QCOW and has used this
with xen?
I''ve googled a bit about and could''nt really find out if it''s a good
choice or not.
Has anyone experience with usage in xen and can say something about
performance
and snapshot usability?
Thanks in advance,
Alex

Residential services
...th:
I've just started working for a small CLEC, and I'm trying to sell * to
my boss as a replacement for some expensive/inflexible/closed-source
software he's been using to provide residential dialtone with for a
couple years now. Presently, we have:
1) a cluster of sun boxes running propriatary IP-PBX software
2) a cisco 3640 h323 gatekeeper
3) a cisco as5300 pstn gateway
I'd like to use sip between an asterisk box and that as5300 (which right
now is only speaking h323), and I'd like to be able to use sip, h323,
mgcp, or skinny for residential customers. This ought to be no prob...

Sluething
My Samba Server had a wild time this weekend thanks to alleged power
fluctuations. I'm using Samba 3.x on Fedora 4. My server sits on an APC UPS
that remains in good health. When I arrived this Monday I found that my
MicroTik Router was still up. My Win XP pro AV server was off and my
Fedora/SAMBA box was also off. (all boxes have their own 15min UPS)
The Win XP pro was brought up w/out

WINE and older games
I know that there is always the push for the latest and greatest games to be working under WINE, but it's always been a little irritating to me, that as the owner of systems that tend to not be up to par to playing the latest and greatest, that older DirectX 7 and below games really don't feel like they've been giving the TLC that they may deserve.
I've been an ongoing quest for

[Zaptel] Why no driver for PCI voice modems?
Hello
Considering how cheap PCI modems are compared to even the cheapest
PCI hardware from Digium, OpenVox, Sangoma, etc.... I was wondering
why Zaptel can't be used with those to connect an Asterisk server to
a POTS line for low-level use? It just seems overkill for SOHO users
who only get a few calls a day.
Is it because those modems are usually Windows-specific, and it would
be too

Problem with VT-d on Mainboard Intel DQ45CB
Hello all,
this mail is related to a post by Axel Schöner that I found at
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.emulators.xen.user/40621
when I was searching the WEB about solutions to my problem.
I would like to confirm that VT-d with XEN 3.3 kernel 2.6.18.8 on mainboard
Intel DQ45CB seems to be broken.
