Asterisk and MS Exchange 2007
Hi, Here you can find a list of MS Exchange 2007 compliant systems: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/exchange/telephony-advisor.mspx You cannot see mention of Asterisk ;-)) Has anyone tried to "integrate" Asterisk and Exchange 2007 ? A prospective customer is using MS Exchange 2007 and is asking for such integration. Passion aside, what do you think of such integration ? Would you exp...

pdbedit -P 'maximum password age' -C 0 should == never expire?
..., my password expired immediately after I did a smbpasswd. Shouldn't setting it to 0 mean the password will never expire? Or are there any other way to set password to never expire? Here is the microsoft's interpretation on 'maximum password age': http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/proddocs/entserver/501.asp It said 0 = 'never expire'.

XP SP2 and slow logins/offline files sync: RPC changes?
...ged in. Since I keep seeing odd RPC-type unauthenticated user calls happening when things go slow, I wonder if the following may have anything to do with it (RPC changes in XP SP2)? More to the point: has Samba accounted for the changes and/or does it need to? http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/sp2netwk.mspx#EGAA Comments appreciated. Dave

authenticating IIS 6.0 against samba?
I have a windows 2003 server joined to my domain. I'd like to have IIS 6.0 on the 2k3 server authenticating against samba so that windows sharepoint services can be used. I've tried getting NTLM authentication working following instructions at http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/WindowsServer2003/Library/IIS/7258232a-5e16-4a83-b76e-11e07c3f2615.mspx?mfr=true but I'm not having hany luck. I'm still getting access denied errors when trying to authenticate users in sharepoint services. Has any one got this working, and if so, any tips?

[Fwd: Re: Authenticating Linux Against AD with Winbind]
...ople hate to hear anything like RTFM, but it will help you gain better understanding. By the way, Microsoft Active Directory (native 2000/2003 domains) authentication is, by definition, Kerberos based. So whether you know it or not, you do in fact use Kerberos. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/windows2000serv/maintain/security/kerberos.mspx Jason Rotunno wrote: > James Zuelow wrote: >> You're trying to authenticate against active directory: >> >> >>> I'm trying to set up a Linux box to authenticate users against AD >> >> But your...

Security considerations with displaying uploaded HTML
I have an application where I am allowing users to upload (or refer the app. to) arbritrary HTML that I am (currently) displaying in an IFRAME on a page. The users will be authenticated so it''s not open to the entire universe. I was always uneasy with this, but after reading the security chapter of AWDWR, I am even more concerned. What kinds of applications do people have out there

mounting/connection to 2003 shares (members servers and domain controllers)
...tocol. This breaks *DOS/LANMAN* clients to connecting to Windows 2003 and of course versions of samba less than 3.0 I was finally able to map my samba 2.2.5 installation to windows 2003 AD server by reviewing this technet article. http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/prodtechnol/windowsserver2003/proddocs/standard/570.asp after making those changes.. to force the security policies to update immediately, run: gpupdate at an cmd prompt and you should be good to go. What still doesn't work? View browse lists.... like smbclient -L melkor I still get an access denied...

Offline files enabled clients are loosing network drives
Hello, since the update to Samba 3.0.25b Clients which have offline files enabled - typically notebooks - are sporadical loosing their network drives. In the samba logs I see: "read_data: read failure for 4 bytes to client 192.168.1.58. Error = Connection timed out" After a new login the client can connect again to the shares again, but after some minutes of work the same thing

problems trusting a w2003 domain server from samba 3
I have samba 3 PDC (SAMBA domain with hostname "pevpdc") on CentOS 3.7 (package is named samba-3.0.9-1.3E.7) and I have a w2k3 sp1 domain (W2003 domain with hostname "mailserver"). The last is in mixed mode and is an exchange server and the former is without winbind, using smbpasswd backend and "security = user" in smb.conf. I would like to authenticate mailserver

Roam Prof + F Redir: Logon/off merge deletes most of profile
..., RecurseDir, ReconcileFile calls, etc. I just don't know what I can do to try and *fix* it! Using the Samba "profiles" command, I have verified that the user has permission on their own NTUSER.DAT. I have read the discussion of the merge algorithm: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/winxppro/maintain/xpusrdat.mspx I thought it was time sync issue. I tried to insure synchronization by syncing my clients to nmbd's time server, but the problem remained. The client and server are both in the same timezone, and adjusted for Daylight Savings time. (As far as I can tell, beca...

Restricting to a subset of the domain controllers on a site
Had a situation where users could not map drives from Windows XP to Solaris 9 system running Samba-3.0.10 for Active Directory. This system has been running for a couple of years without problems. Now recently, the site administrators have added some new servers to the domain which may have introduced a problem. This krb5.conf file has been modified to hide the site in question. [libdefaults]

Updating System Policy Templates
Hi all, I am going to be in the process of updating my custom system policy templates (probably within a month or two) and I am asking for what policies anyone is in need of to help them deploy samba as a domain controller. Currently I basically have a single template.adm file, a few people have asked me to separate them into a few different files that would serve an overall single purpose - I

Re: PDC with roaming profiels
Hi All, Hopefully someone knows the answer to this? I have a RH 7.3 box running Samba 2.3a as a PDC for over 1 1/2 years now. Things are good for the most part, except some minor annoyances with the way windows (2k) is handling the roaming profiles. Maybe I need to alter the permissions for the users profile, any insight would be wonderful though. The profiles copied to the local box under
