Samba permissions problem
...trying to create a fully group writable share.
Easy or so I thought.
As you can see from my config I am trying all the options to set files
group writable, however when I create a file from the client I'm always
getting the
mode 0644. Does anyone have a clue why? Thanks!
client:
//database.pricetrak.com/spendtrak /home/spendtrak cifs
username=webserver,password=twonkerlet,uid=apache,file_mode=0660,dir_mode=0770

Best way to migrate a server?
I was just wondering what recommendations you have on migrating a CentOS
5 install between servers?
I've done similar in the past by setting up a minimal install in the new
server, use tar to copy over the old install and reboot. I was thinking
of rsync this time.
Is that an acceptable thing to do or have I missed something important?
thanks

Completeley disabling SELinux?
Hi all,
I've set SELinux to disabled using the security and firewall
widget but I'm still getting a lot of messages in Logwatch....
NULL security context for user, but SELinux in permissive mode, continuing ()
So it looks like SELinux is still operating. Can anyone tell me how to
turn it off completely? It's my development
server under my desk so I reallly don't care

Dom0 hang on SuSE 9.3 IA64
I''m having problems booting Dom0 on an unbranded server.
Server is running SuSE 9.3 x86_64 and has been working fine for a couple
of years as a standard boot pc. I installed the 2.0.5c version of Xen
which is part of the SuSE repository. I cannot boot into Xen though,
booting Dom0 stops after:
NET: Registered protocol family 16
I know from a normal boot that the next part is PCI

Pre-built kernel 2.6.20 for CentOS 5?
Can anyone point me towards a pre-built kernel 2.6.20 for CentOS 5?
I need the later version to run Yosemite backup. I thought I was being
clever and installed a Fedora kernel and it worked 99%, sadly the bit
that didn't was the tape device which rather spoiled things.
thanks,

How do I check the real size of a filesystem?
I'm having a spot of bother with a large (900GB) partition.
fdisk claims it's 900GB. I made an ext3 fs on it and df says it's only
94GB. Which is correct? Or did I do something wrong?
