extended attributes wiredness
Hi, I am using kernel 3.7-rc6. I have written a test application for extended attributes and have for some folders a wired behaviour: #include <stdio.h> #include <string.h> #include <attr/xattr.h> char attrs[1024]; ssize_t attrslen; int i; char value[1024]; ssize_t valuelen; int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { if (argc != 2) { fprintf(stderr, "Syntax: testxattr

sysvol files - 'The data area passed to a system call is too small'
Hi, I have been having problems with GPOs, sysvol, etc. for some time now, and have found a workaround but I wondered if any of the samba devs were interested in investigating this. Basically, the problems manifest themselves as access errors, along the lines of unable to read files, error messages such as 'The data area passed to a system call is too small' and so on - which means that

nfsv4-acls for cifs and nfsv4
...is working halfway okay, but couldn't find anything useful for nfsv4 and the associated acls - sorry if i missed something obvious. i played around with the nfs4acl_xattr and acl_xattr vfs objects, only to find that the extended attributes written by those are entirely different from the system.posix_acl_access that nfsv4 seems to use. would re-exporting a nfsv4 share mounted on a nfsv4 client via samba work? thank you very much & with kind regards, t. -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... sysvol files - 'The data area passed to a system call is too small'
OK - some more detail I have found in the meantime. I have compiled & ran listxattr, and I can now see a difference between a working and a broken file: me at dc2:~/download $ sudo ./listxattr /usr/local/samba/var/locks/sysvol/ mydomain.org/brokenfile.txt user.DOSATTRIB: 0x20 system.posix_acl_access: me at dc2:~/download $ sudo ./listxattr /usr/local/samba/var/locks/sysvol/ mydomain.org/workingfile.txt user.DOSATTRIB: 0x20 system.posix_acl_access: security.NTACL: This then led me to check what things look like from Windows, and to look at the NTACL from there, seeing as 'listxattr' w...

hosting library (ie. PVCS) on Samba
Hello. I believe that I've done my due diligence in researching what info. is currently available on this issue. I have been jacking with this for days, & believe that I have tried all possible solutions. I am basically trying to move a [Merant] PVCS installation from an OS/2 file server to a SuSE/Samba file server. This installation consists of 'standard' source archives,

Windows ACLs and Replication
...bits 0x001f01bf on the source and 0x001f01ff on the target. This class of difference is a big problem for us. Because of classes 2 and 3, I expected to find the extended attribute values differed between source and target. However, the binary data in the extended attributes (security.NTACL, system.posix_acl_access, system.posix_acl_default, user.DOSATTRIB) is identical between source and target. Earlier, I said "from the perspective of the product, replication works remarkably well", and this is what I meant (accurate replication of extended attributes). Finally, here are my questions: Q1: Is it po...

[BUG] clear ACL-s on destination
Destroy ACL-s on destination when no ACL-s differens between source and destination. Bug is somehow related with function send_file_name() called with negative file descriptor f. There is no such bug in 2.6.9 version, but there options "-X -A --deleted" can't be used (we have "Internal error: wrong write used in receiver."). If I fix this, avoid calling send_acl() &
