Bug [1.1rc5]: Crash during "CPU architecture changed" index upgrade
...Xserve to an Intel Xserve. I used "rsync" to bring everyone's home directories over, and in the back of my mind wondered about how it would handle the binary index files... only one way to find out! :) Once I tried to login to IMAP, I got the following results: May 6 19:46:48 posh dovecot[1169]: IMAP(cabel): Rebuilding index file /Users/cabel/mail/.imap/INBOX/dovecot.index: CPU architecture changed May 6 19:46:48 posh dovecot[1169]: IMAP(cabel): fscking index file / Users/cabel/mail/.imap/INBOX/dovecot.index May 6 19:46:48 posh dovecot[1169]: IMAP(cabel): Fixed index...

Very small scores for search results
Hi Everyone, I''m using Ferret 0.10.11 with acts_as_ferret from SVN (same results with 0.10.10 and 0.10.9 though). I''m running into an odd problem where the scores of my top-ranking search results are ridiculously small - even when the query is one that should match at least one document with a decent score. To give an example, I have just the names of 5 businesses indexed

British Voice talent records Asterisk prompts
Hi folks, I have British comedienne, Alison Keenan (another Alison!) coming in on Saturday afternoon to record the Asterisk prompts for me. Alison speaks with a "posh boarding school" accent. Finally we'll have a free British English female voice bank. As I have her in my studio (yeah right; it's a cupboard under the stairs) does anyone need anything doing? She's charging a Pound a word with a minimum of 20 quid. Interested parties should drop...

Real sh? Or other efficient shell for non-interactive scripts
...hen bsh is several years late to fill a gap already filled by ash, in the same way that the prior existence of bash makes the open-source version of ksh93 uninteresting to most people. This is why you need a web page to sell your project: to explain why someone should abandon bash, zsh, ash, dash, posh, ksh93u+, mksh? 4. CDDL annoys a lot of people. Yes, I know, GPL annoys a lot of people, too. But again, you?re going up against ash, which is BSD, which annoys almost no one. :)

Suddenly can't print: "rec_read bad magic..."
Suddenly, today, my wife's Windows 95 machine can't print to the network printer on my Linux machine. It complains that "there was an error printing to \\posh\lp ... There was a problem printing to the port." The error 1st occurred (coincidentally?) after I had upgraded the kernel from 2.4.18 to 2.4.19. But rebooting to 2.4.18 has made no difference. We're running smbd 2.2.1a. /var/log/samba/coo.log contains a lot of messages like this: [2...

I am not interested in working against ksh93, as this is much closer to POSIX than the current Bourne Shell. The Bourne Shell however is a nice idea for the system shell in /bin/sh because it is faster than bash and as fast as ksh93 but much smaller (if you use the UNIX linker,...
