problem with windows program in linux in virtual machine...
Hi,
I'm a complete linux newbie, let alone wine, easy-peasy and netbooks.
Having said that, I'm looking at buying the eee pc 701 sd and putting easy-peasy on it.
However the reason I need a netbook is to run a cricket scoring program that is only available in windows.
I didn't want to fork out for the netbook until I knew the cricket software will r...

Cloning CentOS workstations
...have been using "CloneZilla" to do this, but it can take a
while since it blanks each partition before copying, and requires a system
shutdown.
Question 1: Would it be sufficient to simply use CloneZilla once to initialize
the backup drive (or do it manually, but CloneZilla makes it easy-peasy), and
then use "rsync -aHx --delete" (let me know if I missed an important rsync
option) to update the clone partitions from then on? I am assuming that the
MBR typically doesn't get rewritten during system updates, though
"/etc/grub.conf" obviously does get changed.

EVE Online
Trying to run EVE Online through wine on my Asus EEEPC with a special flavor of Ubuntu called Easy Peasy built for netbooks. I run the app after doing all the necessary installation procedures and once the game goes full screen, I get sound just fine but the screen goes black and eventually freezes the computer entirely. I ran wine through terminal and got these errors:

help with function
...? ? -0.055? ? -0.316? ? 94
although it is much longer in 'real life'.
The aim of the function is to extract a dataframe of gene symbols along with a weighted score from the above data. The weighted score is the FC column of deMirs * the context_score column of deMirPresGenes. This is easy peasy!
Where I'm falling down is that if I run this function it complains that 'geneMetric' can't be found. Hmm - I've run it all line by line (i.e. not as a function) and it works but wrapped up like this it fails!
e.g.
>testF2 <- cumulMetric(testF1, deMirs$up)

Logistic regression and R
Hello everybody :-)
I have some data that I want to model with a logistic regression, most
of the independent variables are numeric and the only dependent is
categorical, I was thinking that I could apply a logistic regression
using glm but I wanted to deepen my knowledge of this so I tried to do
some reading and found the "iris" dataset, now I would like to ask two
things, first

Sum of Probabilities in a matrix...
Hi all,
I have 2 columns in a mtrix, one of which is a column of probabilities and
the other is simply a vector of integers. I want to sum all the
probabilities with the same integer value and put it in a new column.
For example,
If my matrix is:
0.98 2
0.2 1
0.01 2
0.5 1
0.6 6
Then I should get:
0.98 2 0.99
0.2 1 0.70
0.01 2 0.99
0.5 1 0.70
0.6 6

Can''t get utorrent to install
Hi everyone. I'm really new to Linux and everything but I just got an Eee PC 901 and I'm running Ubuntu Eee (Easy Peasy). I downloaded and installed Wine following the directions on this site then I downloaded utorrent. First I tried just having Firefox open it with wine and that worked and brought me to the install wizard but then on the last step when I tell it to install nothing happens. I also tried saving it...

Safe Harbor Games : Backgammon - Almost works with Wine
Safe Harbor Games (http://www.safeharborgames.net/) is a popular site in the backgammon community. I am one of several people trying to get the game server to work on Linux with Wine. I am using a Asus EEE 1000HE with the latest version of Easy Peasy (Ubuntu) and Wine. The game software requires browser to launch and I was successful in getting this to work by loading windows version of Firefox. In fact, with exception of a few critical issues the program works with Wine. I can play a match and most of the controls work except for the follow...

Compile vs. RPM
Hello CentOS,
I'm an old hat, and have been compiling my own MySQL, Apache, PHP,
OpenSSL, ModSSL, etc. for my webservers for years. I'm playing around
with the RPM installs on CentOS, and have basically been able to get
most things setup so that they "function" about the same.
If I could stick to RPM's rather than compiling my own sources, it
would save me a fair bit of

Trigamma function
Hey, all
Do you how to calculate the trigamma function, that is
d**2(log(gamma(x))) / dx**2.
The second-order derivative of log(Gamma(x))?
I cannot find it in the R package, and somebody knows who or where to get
such one?
Thanks.

Sorting by computed temporary field
Hey all,
I''m rather new to Ruby and Rails (and not great with SQL), but I''m
developing a ride sharing app and would like to be able to sort on
something I don''t have stored.
I have users, events, and rides, each of which has a zip code. Events
have_many rides, and rides belong_to events.
When an event is selected, I''d like to be able to show a list of

Netbeans 6 and 6.1 on the same machine.. Possible..?
Hi,
I am currently using Netbeans 6.0 for all my Ruby on rails Projects.
I would like to keep 6.0 and 6.1 on the same machine, since i am not
sure how safe 6.1 is when compared to 6.0
I do not want to take any chance of losing my projects.
Can any one guide me... Is it possible and How...?
Thanks

Renviron settings for Linux Distributions: please tell me R Core's advice
...cture specific R modules go into %{_libdir}/R/library
* Architecture independent R modules go into %{_datadir}/R/library
I don't believe that without making some change, R will look in
%{_datadir}/R/library at all.
It looks like we should be overloading R_LIBS_SITE as opposed to R_LIBS.
Easy peasy. :)
Can you try changing that line in the spec file to this and confirm that
it resolves the issue:
echo
'R_LIBS_SITE=${R_LIBS_SITE-'"'/usr/local/lib/R/site-library:/usr/local/lib/R/library:%{_libdir}/R/library:%{_datadir}/R/library'"'}'

R on netbooks et al?
Dear useRs,
With the rise of netbooks and 'lifestyle laptops" I am tempted to get one of these to mainly run R on it. Processor power and hard disk space seem to be ok. What I wonder is the handling and feel with respect to R.
Has anyone here installed or is running R on one of these, and if so, what is your experience? Would it be more of a nice looking gadget than a feasable platform
