Is there a way to limit multiple POP3 connections?
Hi all,
Please correct me if I'm going about this the wrong way.
We currently have a 3 system Mail server set up - two machines are the load
balanced frontends running Dovecot and Postfix, and the third machine is
our NFS. Over the past 4 months or so, I've tweaked and optimized our mail
servers, and we receive roughly 3 million emails a day combined through
this setup.

Upgrading CentOS 5.2 to use gcc 4.x
I have a CentOS 5.2 installation with gcc 3.4.6 as the default. I'd
like to upgrade the entire gcc tool chain, including libraries, to 4.x in
order to build some software that requires 4.1.0 or better. Can I do this
easily through yum? If I upgrade to 5.3 will I get gcc 4.x by default?
Thanks,

NFS filesystem recommendations please (and problems with XFS)
Hello all,
I am implementing a new mail server into our environment consisting of
three machines - two Dell Opterons that will act as load balanced
Postfix servers, and a 1.5TB RAID10 NFS server. All three machines are
running CentOS 4.5.
Since the NFS is going to be used for only mail, I was kicking around
the idea to use XFS. I have CentOS installed on an ext3 partition, and
with the

Where to find 1.1 RPM for CentOS 4?
Hiya,
I'm trying to find an rpm for the 1.1 version, since it appears to work
better with NFS. Does anyone have a link to the i386 version?
Thanks in advance.

Migrating from imapd to dovecot - how to keep user's Mail folders
Hi all,
We're migrating off our current mail server with runs postfix and imapd
on an AIX machine to Postfix and Dovecot running linux. Our customers
have a lot of IMAP folders with folders they configured, which are
currently located in their /home directory on the current mail server.
The new mail server will have them at the same location.
How do I configure Dovecot so that when a

Some customers receiving duplicate e-mails
Hi all,
I posted this question in the Postfix users mailing list as well - I'm
not sure if this is Dovecot or Postfix related.
Our old system which we migrated off of was an AIX 5.2 machine running
most recent Postfix and mbox format with UW-IMAP. We've migrated to
most recent Postfix, using Maildir and Dovecot v1.
After we used mb2md to migrate over all our customers, some of our

Load average on machine 400+
Hi all,
Over the past week our mail server which NFS mounts the /home directory
for mail has been experiencing major load issues. When doing a 'top',
it appeared that slapd was the culprit (we use LDAP for authentication),
but after upgrading the system and updating ldap, the cpu usage for LDAP
has gone down, but the load average as not.
I'm using Maildir. Everything from /home

Dovecot fails almost every 20 minutes exactly
Hi all,
We just set up our new mail servers using Postfix and Dovecot. We have
implemented a load balanced solution to where our two mail servers have
a common NFS share.
Everything is working great. Everything but Dovecot for the most part.
In testing, Dovecot was great. Now that we're in the production
environment, we've noticed that every 20 minutes, Dovecot will stop

UW-IMAP to Dovecot conversion - How to migrate the folders?
Hi all,
I've read so much information on this that I'm a little confused as to
what to follow. Here's what's going on:
We just migrated away from our AIX machines which were running Postfix
and UW-IMAP. We're now running Postfix with Dovecot. I already
converted everyone's mbox file to maildir, but now I'm having a little
troubles with how to exactly populate
