suggestion - Password replication
Hi,
I would find it very useful if puppet were able to replicate passwords for
specified users from a master PC (the puppetmaster would do me fine, though
I suspect this may not suit everyone).
That would make changing passwords on my small Linux network a little easier.

Trimming the fat out of a Centos 4.4 Installation
Hi, just to avoid re-inventing the wheel, is there any document that
can help me reduce even further a "minimum" installation of Centos 4.4

I am in the process of creating a small Centos-4.4-based Asterisk box

Issue with pam_winbind for MS AD authentication and module options
Hello!
I've configured samba with winbind and pam_winbind module to
authenticate users that connect to my linux box against MS AD.
Works like a charm. If a user exists both in AD and locally, login
should assume local users. Again, it works pretty well (It seems at
least with my current config).
If my AD server goes down for any reason, local users should be able to
login. For example, root

Manage unix users from AD
Hi,
Starting a fresh new thread, the ones about sssd x winbind are getting
boring, biased and personal. :) I'd like to bring this to an admin
point-of-view to be more useful for other Samba users (aka admins).
Consider a network with about 200+ employees, most of them windows user.
Happens that one need to provide other non-windows services like e-mail,
proxy and many others to them,

New ADS infrastructure with winbind - Which is the best ID-mapping: IDMAP_RID or IDMAP LDAP with ADS + SFU schema ?
A question for the best winbind SID-UID/GID mapping in our situation:
I'm building a new infrastructure with Windows 2003SP1 ADS
Domaincontrollers and some Debian Servers (File: Samba+NFS; Mail; Web;
....) and varios XP and Debian Clients.
After reading Chapter 12. (Identity Mapping) in the Samba-HOWTO is
IDMAP_RID in couple with winbind an easy way to solve the problem with

Linux SSO with samba4?
Hi,
I think it is great that samba4 has a single sign on solution for Windows
platforms and it seems to work well too, but I am wondering is it possible
to do the same for a Linux environment? I have been studying how to
implement single sign on using the Ubuntu way through this document:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SingleSignOn and I am wondering if I can
do the same with samba4 where the
