Samba 3 PDC & BDC Servers
I'm not sure what the configurations of the Primary and Backup servers should be to enable them to operate as a domain across a WAN. The original server has been running for some time as the master server, but now I am adding a second (backup) server at the remote site. The global section of the original server is: [global] log file = /var/log/samba/%m.log printer =

[help] Can't Join Samba 2.2.3a to TNG+LDAP
I need to join my Samba 2.2.3a to a TNG Domain (which stores users and machines account into OpenLDAP) using it as a password server. Provided that TNG is working fine in authenticating users on W2K machines, once they are logged in they should (in my intentions) see Samba 2.2.3a shares. In order to do this I provided the following configuration for Samba: workstation = <tng_domain>

Samba PDC & Win2000
I found out, that the reason Win2000 clients could not connect to Samba, was because Win2000 uses an unknown uid to log the machine on the samba domain. Which uid do Win2000 use? Right now, I have set "Restrict Anonymous = False" to permit Win2000 clients to connect. Previously I have used some scripts to add network drives etc. in netlogon. Win2000 do not seem to call these scripts.

Multiple problems with 2.2.7a-0.2
As the subject line indicates, I'm having multiple problems with 2.2.7a-0.2 . I compiled from source using the instructions for creating a debian package, then did a dpkg -i of the packages that were built. Prior to running 2.2.7a-0.2, I was running 2.2.3a from the stable debian package. I switched to 2.2.7a-0.2 because of the ongoing problem with default printer settings on builds prior to

2.2.7a logon script will not run
I just tried upgrading from 2.2.3 to 2.2.7a on my PDC (2.2.17 kernel). The logon script that I have been using all along without any problems quits executing w/ 2.2.7a. I can manually map the netlogon share after logging in and manually run the script and everything work fine. No error messages appear in the log files. My smb.conf file is included. Don't know quite where to go with this

Samba 3.05 pdc
I'm trying to connect a Windows 2000 workstation to my samba pdc domain. I have followed all the steps in the documentation to setup samba as a pdc, but I have not been able to connect any workstations to the domain. Does anyone have a example smb.conf file I can compare with mine. I checked the "log.smbd" and I'm getting the following messages when I tried to add a computer

RE: 2.2.7a logon script will not run (Rich Forman)
Rich, Within the past 6 or 8 months, I to have upgraded my Samba to 2.2.7a. My Conf file is similar to yours, except for your script path. What I have is a global parameter of "logon script=" and then a [netlogon] share for the script path. with that setup, I'm able to map drivers, set the time, run liveupdate automatically and run "Automatic Updates" on my W2K machines.

Windows access problems
Hello, I had the pleasure of installing a new Linux(RH8.0)/Samba(2.2.7a) server (as a PDC) at one of our locations this week. They previously were accessing a shared drive from a Win2k Pro. machine. The migration did not go very smooth. Most things have been resolved, but we have some strange issues that are still causing problems, which I was hoping someone out there would have some insight
