Does samba provide a fuzzing mode that uses deterministic NTLMSSP_Challenge?
Hi,
Recently I want to fuzz samba systematically (instead of functional fuzzing like OSS-Fuzz/samba). However, the fuzzer acts like smbclient and needs to establish a connection with the samba server via NTLM authentication. The NTLMSSP_Challenge sent by the server is not deterministic, which can render the fuzzing based on previously captured traffic futile. Does samba provide a fuzzing mode that uses deterministic NTLMSSP_Challenge, or how can I directly bypass the authentication stage?

the server setting to map all users to guest (see further down). I did a
packet dump and the client pc asks NTLMSSP_NEGOTIATE, server replies
with an NTLMSSP_CHALLENGE and then the client pc simply hangs up (TCP RST).
Now the (more) interesting bit: all this only happens when you use a
"microsoft account", not if you use a local account. With a local
account on the laptop start -> run -> \\IP will get you connected
without asking for a user /...

Permission denied error while connecting to EMC CIFS server

from samba client on unix machine.
Looking at the packet capture it is observed that ?samba client is authenticating with "anonymous" instead of the user name that has been provided.
Here are flags received from EMC server as part of ?"Session Setup AndX Response, NTLMSSP_CHALLENGE, NTLMSSP_CHALLENGE, Error: STATUS_MORE_PROCESSING_REQUIRED" packet. After this, client connected to EMC server with "anonymous" instead of given username.
Any help?

Major Samba Battle

My [homes] mapping works fine.
After I log in, I can access my H: drive (homes).
I have added Unix users and passwords to Samba
I've tried disabling Shorewall
But that's about the only thing that works. Ethereal is showing errors such
as: "NTLMSSP_CHALLENGE, Error: STATUS_MORE_PROCESSING_REQUIRED" and "Tree
Connect AndX Request, Path :\\SERVER\DOWNLOADS" then "Tree Connect AndX

Accessing a guest share from Windows 10 gives System error 5 on some computers
...Windows 10's Anniversary Update (14393) or Creators Update (15063) and there doesn't seem to be a correlation regarding that.
I tcpdumped both types of sessions, and these show that the Windows Client forcefully closes the TCP connection (NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_RESET) right after receiving `NTLMSSP_CHALLENGE` before a working client would send `NTLMSSP_AUTH` with a user.
I have checked setting `AllowInsecureGuestAuth` in the geristry without any effect.

samba and the application of MS patch KB852004 - madness may follow

A co-worker used a packet sniffer to watch connections to the server and
here is what he sent me:
From what I see, xxx.x.12.10 (the box that fails) is connecting to samba
server but is getting rejected. The packet is interpreted as
?NTLMSSP_CHALLENGE, Error: STATUS_MORE_PROCESSING_REQUIRED?. Then the
connection closes. So it doesn't look like a network issue, but rather an
authentication issue. For xxx.x.12.12, which works, the same error message
displays, but then xxx.x.12.12 sends the user name. 12.10 never sends the
user name.

Samba & Vista
I'm trying to use smbclient to look at a Vista box but I keep getting:

I know the user/password combination is good.
I googled around and got the impression that Vista didn't play well

[PATCH 0/10] NTLM patchset submission
Hello all,
as I promised some days ago here is NTLM (aka SPA, aka MSN) authentication
support patchset.
It contains common code in src/lib-ntlm directory, Samba compatible
NTLM password scheme and authentication mechanism itself.
All patches are against 1.0-test30.
