survdiff
Hello, As I am quitte an ignorant user of R, excuse me for any wrongfull usage of all the terms. My question relates to the statistics behind the survdiff function in the package survival. My textbook knowledge of the logrank test tells me that if I want to compare two survival curves, I have to take the sum of the factors: (O-E)^2/E of both groups, which will give me the Chisq. If I calculate

The problem is: there is a banch of data files which are to be processed by R script called from a web-server, i.e. in the batch mode. The web server generates data files and passes their names calling 'R CMD BATCH' one by one for every file. Now the question is how to

Basic question: Reading in multiple choice question responses to a single column in data frame
I'm using read.delim to successfully read in tab delimited data, but some columns' values are comma seperated, reflecting the fact that user chose a few answers on a multi-select question. I understand that each answer is its own category and so could be represented as a seperate column in the data set, but I'd like the option of reading in the data column, and converting it to a

loading a package .Rda file at package load time
Hi, I have seen the answer to this sometime before but I just can't find it again - pointers appreciated. I have a package that contains some data.frames saved as .Rda files in the data/ directory. When the package is loaded I would like to have them be available in the workspace (without the user having to explicitly load them using data(...)). If my package does not use a NAMESPACE, I can

Example for parsing XML file?
Hi, I am trying to parse XML files and read them into R as a data frame, but have been unable to find examples which I could apply successfully. I'm afraid I don't know much about XML, which makes this all the more difficult. If someone could point me in the right direction to a resource (preferably with an example or two), it would be greatly appreciated. Here is a snippet from one of
