Aggregating two objects of the same type
I would like to have a customer that has references to two addresses, a billing address and a shipping address. In a non-rails environment I would have two keys in the customers table, billing_address_id and shipping_address_id to reference the addresses. It appears that ActiveRecord expects the parent id to reside in the child table, regardless of whether the relationship is one-to-one or

one-to-one relationship confusion
Hello, I posted a similar email, earlier in the week, but I still must not be getting it. I have a customer that aggregates two addresses; a shipping address and a billing address. Addresses can also be referenced by other objects in a similar way, so I would really like to avoid putting the keys referencing the customer or other objects in the addresses table. Addresses are exclusively

...'s freelist. I realize that this might not be possible currently if the chunk you wish to free is not aligned with the start of a block etc. etc. A "cruder" interface, just giving whole disk blocks back would be acceptable, though. Your comments would be much appreciated, Rasmus Munk Larsen, Stanford University.

Problem with DNS (UDP) queries
Hi all I am trying to get rid of strings: kernel: Connection attempt to UDP FREEBSD_IP:port from DNSSERVER_IP:53 on my console and in log file I understand that those are replies on DNS queries that for some reason took too long time to be answered. I do not want to turn off the "log in vain" feature. As these strings fill up my log I am afraid to miss some sensitive messages (e.g.

user engine redirect configuration help
Hello, I am using the User Engine in a typical way. When an unathenticated user attempts to access a protected area of the site it works fine unless the the controller has been defined in a module. i.e. When I try and access localhost/admin/roles/list as an unathenticated user I get redirected to localhost/admin/user/login insted of the correct location: localhost/user/login. I''ve

keyboard activity logging in FreeBSD
Hi, I would like to log all keyboard activities in all ttys in my FreeBSD 5.2 box. Is there anyway to do it? I read the watch man page and it seems like I should run watch with tty as many times as number of ttys. Am I right? Also is it possible to do the log in invisible way? The main reason is to log all commands typed in shell and tty and send the log to the remote server. How can I

Logging user activities
Hello, What do you recommend for keeping track of user activities? For preserving bash histories I followed these recommendations: http://www.defcon1.org/secure-command.html They include using 'chflags sappnd .bash_history', enabling process accounting, and the like. My goal is to "watch the watchers," i.e. watch for abuse of power by SOC people with the ability to view

EAC (exactaudiocopy) in openSUSE 10.2
Hello wine users: Could someone, please, help me how to make work EAC with wine in openSUSE 10.2? Earlier (SUSE 10.1) I could configure wine to use windows 2000 as default windows version and EAC to use 'native Win32 interface for WinNT/2000/XP' and these worked together fine. Now in openSUSE 10.2 (wine version wine-0.9.37-12.1) when I start EAC with wine I get: a) when the interface

possible compromise or just misreading logs
I am not sure if I had a compromise but I am not sure I wanted some other input. I noticed in this in my daily security run output: pc1 setuid diffs: 19c19 < 365635 -rwsr-xr-x 1 root wheel 204232 Sep 27 21:23:19 2003 /usr/X11R6/bin/xscreensaver --- > 365781 -rwsr-xr-x 1 root wheel 205320 Dec 4 07:55:59 2003 /usr/X11R6/bin/xscreensaver It was the only file listed and I didn't

Rails/Windows Guru Needed
Hey All, I''ve just got back from a great meeting with a potential new client. Everything was going so well - I knocked back their old-school project plans, sold Rails to them in less than 5 minutes. All cool. Then, 5 minutes before the end they say ''Oh and by the way - I know we said we''re happy to host on any platform suitable, but there''s been a change and

file_column value always null
Hello, I am trying to use file_column to upload images. I went through the examples and correctly have the file upload button and field working in a create form. When I save the new record the file_upload column is always null. I updated the model and everything else appears to be correct, however I assume it is some sort of configuration issue. Any guidance would by greatly appreciated.
