Check if a message has attachments
Hi all, my question is not specific to Dovecot but to the IMAP protocol in general. I'm working on a web based software that provides a simple webmail ( http://modoboa.org/). I'm wondering what would an efficient way to detect if a message (or a group of messages) has attachments. I know it certainly consists in checking for specific MIME constructions but how to achieve that without fetching the whole body for each message? Thanks in advance, Antoine Nguye...

Dict quota question
...to get per-user quota limit Currenlty, current quota usage are properly stored into the database but per-user limits are not found. If I replace the SQL dictionary by the maildir backend (my previous config.), it works as expected. Do you have any idea? Thanks in advance, Antoine Nguyen http://modoboa.org/

Getting Postfix Admin's DB to work with Postfix's/Dovecot's MySQL DB
Hi all, I followed the instructions here: http://library.linode.com/email/postfix/dovecot-mysql-centos-5 to configure Postfix to work with MySQL and Dovecot before discovering PostfixAdmin (I was searching for a visual tool for creating users). Since I had created MySQL database already for virtual domains and user mailboxes (following the instructions I linked to earlier) and PostFix

We can't answer them anyway because we don't know what backend you are using. Typically all of the above would be done in an SQL database with queries which you have

web interface for user creation/vacation
What are the best web interfaces for user/domain management, perhaps one that also allows individual users to edit vacation msgs? Right now I'm using a postfixadmin based mysql control panel. Curious what is the better stuff out there that people are using with dovecot/sieve these days? Are there any decent front-ends to setup/manage per-user sieve filters?

Bug tracker
I started thinking that perhaps I should move my TODO list to a bug tracker. But because of reasons I've explained a few times before, I don't want a full blown public bug tracking system. The requirements for it are: * I am the only person who can add new bugs. Everyone else reports bugs/requests to this mailing list as before. (Well, I guess Stephan could use this as well if he wants

Server administration
...e > /etc/postfix/main.conf and /etc/dovecot/conf.d/auth-sql.conf.ext (and > likely others!) No, please don't spread the info that you would need an SQL DB for running a mail service. Unless you run a big install with lots of accounts where it can be handy to use some sort of meta tool (modoboa, postfixadmin, ...) there is zero need for an SQL backend. And in enterprise environments you would normally use an LDAP / AD infrastructure component where your user base lives. Anyhow, someone like the OP who appears not to be much experienced in the field of running his own mail service sho...

It is much easier to manage users, even a few users, via a database than dealing with local users. (Having manage both for years and years and finally having moved everyone into a database I?ve spent a lot of time on this, a database back...

Unseen messages question
...if there are new messages I think it works pretty well when the mailbox is opened only once. Let's imagine this mailbox is opened twice, by different clients. If one client marks a message as \Seen, how can the second client know about this change? Thanks for your help, Antoine Nguyen http://modoboa.org/

struggling with pigeonhole date extensions
...ling how sparse the ecosystem seems to be for managing sieve scripts given the importance of email and the unmanageability of volumes these days without rules. What would be nice to have is something like the Outlook rule manager as a front end and server side sieve scripts on the back. I looked at Modoboa (which seems to be the only standalone option), but it's a bit heavy for my taste and I struggled to configure it in the time I had available. Thanks in advance.

Mail filters in incoming message
With my iMap client, I use various mail rules to move specific email to the right mail folders. Downside of that is that is this mailclient is not online, all email is stuck in my inbox, which makes reading email by mobile phone kind of chaotic. I have seen several Pigeonhole Sieve examples, but I would like to know if there is a nub solution (I am not a programmer) to run filters when they

[OT] dovecot appliance
Hello all. I am reading the mailinglist for a long time now, and there was a thread i believe called webgui or something. In this thread there was a company i believe german, that was working on a dovecot appliance with a web based gui to administrate a dovecot mail server. The problem is i did not save the URL of that company. Does anyone know which company make the appliance. Or does

sieve
Hi, is there a sieve option that can reject a mail directly without creating a new mail and sending that out? I know about reject "Reject message goes here"; but I am looking for a mechanism that can reject Mail. Postfix can use reject_unverified_recipient to connect to LMTP and ask if a mail would successfully be enqueued and will return the status gotten from the LMTP server if not.

Calendar and address book with Dovecot
Hi all I recently install Postfix and Dovecot, and so far so good. My assumption was that calendar and address book (similar to Gmail calendar or address book) are part of Dovecot. However I do not see anything concerning them in any of the docs I have read so far. What other software (ideally open source, free) do I need in other to have Calendar and address book so my users can manage their
