The scenario is a little complicated. We installed internal PF and VF kernel modules and want to use
<interface type="hostdev" managed="yes"> syntax to start a guest domain with MAC address.

problems with xen and sr-iov/iommu
...hrough feature seems to work fine when I assign the
physical functions of the nic to the HVMs. They respectfully see the
PCI devices, load the igb drivers on boot and have network access.
However when I switch to using the virutal functions (starting with
simple case of ''modprobe igb max_vfs=1'') the HVMs won''t properly boot
and end up getting somehow destroyed late in the boot process, just
after the igbvf drivers load.
I''ve got plenty of data/logs to post, but I wanted to check in to see if
anyone has a working scenario before I start throwing bits arou...

Intel 82576 dual-port ET Adapter that supports SR-IOV and started
configuring everything to enable it''s virtual functions:

added blacklist igbvf to /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
I was under the impression that I should see some kind of message about
MMCONFIG in xm dmesg, but there isn''t anything. I do a xm dmesg | grep

Exactly We're using max_vfs=2 and libnl-3.2.22
# ls -l /usr/lib64/libnl-3.so.200.17.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 154440 Sep 17 07:15 /usr/lib64/libnl-3.so.200.17.0
Why this issue happened on PPC? Is there anything architecture-specific support needed to add?
Thanks,
Olivia

Re: sr-iov on Intel 82576 and rhel 7 - would not work
...s fine, as long as enp2s0f1 is the SRIOV card's PF
(Physical Function) and the output of ip link show dev enp2s0f1 shows a
list of VFs. In the case that you have no VFs created for that device,
yoou can make sure this happens by adding the following to
/etc/modprobe.d/local.conf:
options igb max_vfs=7
BTW, unless you're concerned about the amount of bandwidth available on
a single port of your switch, you can use the PF for host networking,
and still use the VFs of that same PF for passthrough assignment to guests.

sr-iov on Intel 82576 and rhel 7 - would not work
hi everybody
a windows kvm guest would not start, process gets killed with:
Out of memory: Kill process 21984 (qemu-kvm) score 44 or
sacrifice child
I really don't know where/what I might be missing, config
seems fine, everything looks ok - I only am not sure, do I
need to first stub a SR-IOV device like regular passthrough?
I'm trying sr-iov, having one NIC left to the host and the

Re: Sr-iov passthrough - no packet arrive to guest
I can see from different post that if working with sr-iov, i should work
with vlan
Is this an obligation to work with vlan if working with sr-iov?
If not according to which parameter will the different vf get the
traffic.
Let's say i declare max_vfs=7, how will the traffic be seperated between
the vm?
However till i get an answer i tried to work with vlan
And i still don't get traffic in vm, but i see packet arriving in the
physical interface of the host
I tried to do the following to define the vlan
In virsh edit

CentOS7 sometimes don't detect NIC after reboot
I have brand new PC with this components:

HDD 2x ADATA SSD 256GB XPG GAMMIX S11, PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 (RAID1)

I installed CentOS 7 and two NICs were detected:

enp1s0 (Intel X550-T1)
When I restart the machine sometimes enp1s0 is missing. It is not
