Compiz porting plan, for help
...recently introduced a new low-power device called a Mobile Internet Device (MID). We're working in Intel's Open source Technology Center on the Linux Desktop UI. Given the small screen we're planning on using a stack-based window manager where each application runs full-screen (think Matchbox). We think it would be very cool to get a rotation effect like the compiz wm, but with a single applications per screen. Who can give us some suggestion on our Compiz porting plan and give help on my block issues? I am a newer on Compiz, thank you for all your help. From: Zhu, Jack Sent: 200...

Help with multi-monitor Xorg stuff
...ach with 4 outputs. "lspci" reports these cards as" [AMD/ATI] Cape Verde PRO [FirePro W600]". On an older version of CentOS 7, I used the proprietary AMD/ATI driver. This had a utility (I roorget the name) that generated a working xorg.conf file. I could them throw up the "matchbox-window-manager" on each monitor in turn using "DISPLAY=:0.0", "DISPLAY=:0.1" etc and then throw up a full-screen chrome web browser in kiosk mode on each monitor after that. This all worked great. In a recent version of CentOS 7, this all broke. The proprietary driver no...

Dealing with 800x480 displays
Has anyone worked around the display size limit on units like the ASUS eee? They list a 800x480 display resolution, and I have encountered Gnome dialogs that require at least 800x600 to see the <OK> button on the bottom of the panel.

small window manager
What is an alternative X window manager, supported by CentOS, that has very small memory footprint? I want to avoid twm, because it defaults to interactive placement when not giving geometry options. Asterisk as Internet Talk Radio PBX system
I see in the archives a brief thread between Barton and w last November 2003 about streaming to the Internet. I'd like to use an Asterisk to mediate multiple VOIP calls originated from the Internet to the studio to be mixed then passed out to an encoding PC thence back to Internet {~~~~~~~~~} +---------------+ +-----------+ +---------------+ +---------------+ {

wow! and what about h/w players for vorbis files?
wow! i must say vorbis deprecates mp3! lol. although, i had to use the "OSS/3d for XMMS" plugin on my sblive value w/ 4 point sound to get a proper base. On my other box with a diff card, bass is just fine. however, are there any h/w players for vorbis files? the faq only states one manufacturer called iObjects but i see no portable players! Basically, i want to player vorbis files

audio recorder compatibility
I'm shopping for a small/tiny audio recorder, the kind for recording in a class, interviews, etc... not really music, just voice. Per usual, a lot of these write their audio files in some Windows format, e.g., WMA. As a confirmed Linux guy, I'd want to offload the audio files in some format that Linux can read/play natively. I've read a sketchy suggestion that there's a Linux

zaptel PRI drivers
I have a quick question. I know that running X on an asterisk server is not officially "supported", however, I've never had any trouble with it until now (8 months, using wctdm cards with fxo and fxs ports, IAX trunks, SIP phones, everything except a PRI card). Now I just installed my first asterisk box that terminates a PRI, and bam, HDLC errors up the wazoo if X is running, if its

ANNOUNCE: libguestfs 1.30 released
...virt-p2v(1) adds a network configuration dialog. virt-p2v now has p2v.pre, p2v.post and p2v.fail triggers, allowing arbitrary scripts for preparing the host for conversion and tidying up post-conversion. virt-p2v now uses the more advanced metacity window manager (instead of matchbox). virt-sysprep(1) will remove /var/spool/mail/username for non-root accounts (Hu Tao). virt-customize(1), virt-builder(1) and virt-sysprep have the following new options: --commands-from-file allow long lists of commands to be read from a file instead of from the...
