Psycho-acoustics research
Hi.
I'm an undergraduate linguistics major and computer science minor at
the University of Colorado in Boulder, and am taking a couple classes
this semester which give me the opportunity to do a research project -
one on introductory acoustics in the physics department, and one in
the linguistics department on phonetics and phonology....

VarBrul in R
Several years ago there were R implementations of a socio-linguistics
analysis method called Variable Rule Analysis namely rbrul and r-varb. Both
neither of the sites listed (in the method's WikiPedia page
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variable_rules_analysis ) appear to be online
any more (one was at UPenn and the other at Indiana). Does anyone know a)
whether th...

The vector has no missing values (and if it did, I would get NA rather
than NaN, and the function wouldn't return a number when I give it the
raw data).

straightforward once you have the data in the right structure. And I do
not think tidyquant is necessary for what you want.

How create vector that sums correct responses for multiple subjects?
I have a data file with indicates pretest scores for a linguistics
experiment. The data are in long form so for each of 33 subjects there are
400 rows, one for each item on the test, and there is a column called
‘Correct’ that shows ‘C’ for a correct response and ‘E’ for an incorrect
response. I am trying to write a formula that will create a vector that
indicat...

libogg++ release 1.1.0
Hi everybody,
I posted here about two years ago about the initial release. This is a
release that fixes many bugs, and has enhancements that make it possible
to support a multi-stream format, ALingA, which I will mention briefly
later. It also supports a PCM format, Neuro, both as part of the
multi-stream codec, and stand-alone.
libogg++ is a C++ library implementing Ogg. It is designed to be

plural to singular blunder
I just got this error:
uninitialized constant PriceCurf
After much head scratching I remembered the Rails plural to singular
mapping rules. My table is price_curves, my object is PriceCurve ...
whereas I am guessing Rails thinks the singular ought to br PriceCurf
?!
I''m sure there is a simple way around this linguistic blunder that
doesn''t involve the use of pigeon English.

Contrasts for 2x4 interaction in mixed effects model
...rom 1B, it tells me how different 2B is from 2A.
Is there a straightforward way to code the contrasts so that the
coefficients I get for the interaction terms do the comparisons I'm
interested in?

Counting observations split by a factor when there are NAs in the data
...Thank you in advance for your help. I love R and am interested in making
it more accessible to social scientist types like me. I know it can do
everything SPSS can and more, but sometimes the very simplest things
seem to be a lot harder in R.
