help DirectX 9 under wine
I'm trying to run Steam under Wine in Ubuntu, I've got the client running just fine, but running games has it complaining that i don't have the latest DirectX version, I've tried Wine-Doors, it says DirectX9 is already installed, and when i follow the tutorial Here (http://howto.landure.fr/gnu-linux/install-directx-9-0c-on-linux-using-wine), i can get to the initializing screen, but after that, the installer hangs.
Any help would be cool, thanks

dxdiag - exits without success
...r testing DirectX:
%# wine dxdiag
And nothing happens. No window, no messages on console.
%# echo $?
prints
%# 0
Everything is OK (return code 0).
I thought that dxdiag is not in this Wine package; So I tryed to install DirectX
from M$ site with guide from this link: http://howto.landure.fr/gnu-linux/install-directx-9-0c-on-linux-using-wine
Everything installs ok.
So, I've tryed to run dxdiag again, and again no window, no messages in console, return code 0.
What can I do? What's happening with it?
Thanks for patience.

PWGL, some improvements
Hi,
few months ago I started a thread about running PWGL under wine. PWGL is a "
free cross-platform visual language based on Common Lisp, CLOS and OpenGL,
specialized in computer aided composition and sound synthesis. "

However, because I had to use winetricks to install Microsoft Visual C++
2005 (it's needed by PWGL), and the many errors that I

Squeezing every last drop of performance out of DirectX
...ng the dxlevel 81 option performance is pretty good, but would I benefit by setting some of the DLLs to native? Several of the DLLs are already set to native, some are set to builtin but I think they mostly relate to DirectX 9.0c. Here are the instructions I used to install DX 9.0c:
http://howto.landure.fr/gnu-linux/install-directx-9-0c-on-linux-using-wine
Are there any other suggestions on how to get this faster via wine? Some of the things I'm wondering:
1) Are there any further tweaks I can make to the Direct3D registry key?
2) Are there any DLLs I should be tweaking and setting to nat...
