I am the the author of KAudioCreator. A simple cd ripper/encoder application
for KDE. I would like to add flac (or is it FLAC?) to the default encoders.
KAudioCreator uses a simply command line listing for its encoders. For
example:
To leave as a wav file: "mv %f %o"
To encode with oggenc: "oggenc -o %o -a...

Problem decoding .flac files
I've been having problems with Amarok and K3B, but I think it comes down
to a problem with flac. All my music and audio files are encoded in
flac format. I've ripped my CDs using KAudioCreator and using this
command to encode them (split for formatting):
flac --best -o %o --tag=Artist=%{artist} --tag=Album=%{albumtitle}
--tag=Date=%{year} --tag=Title=%{title}
--tag=Tracknumber=%{number} --tag=Genre=%{genre} %f
Recently I've had some problems with burning files with K3B, so...

So far I've just been flac-ing my CDs to individual one-flac-per-track
files, however it appears I've been missing some of the other bits of
info on the CD.
I haven't been using abcde (i've been using KAudioCreator which is a
front-end for cdparanoia, AIUI) so I've been a bit lost by some of the
detailed methods described by others, as well as Dax.
Given that I've already flac-ed a good many CDs, is it enough to go
back and run a batch file like this on each CD:
cd-discid /dev/hdc > discid.t...

CD mp3 ripping
What program do you guys use for mp3 CD ripping? I have CentOS 5.0 x86.
Sound Juicer seems is missing any mp3 plug in.

Flac Files Messed Up By Amarok
A while back I posted about issues with flac files that were not able to
be decoded. Here's what I do know:
I've ripped most of my collection to my hard drive using KAudioCreator
and I've specified that they be stored in flac format. All files play
without trouble through Amarok. I found out there was a problem when I
had selected files in a playlist and picked "burn" through K3B. All
the functions worked appropriately, but then I had problems with...
