Rendering objects
So, Ruby is OO all the way, but in Rails we can?t render an object? Having retyped way too many calls to ActionViews render method with various options, I finally figured, why not make it possible to actually render customized objects, which could encapsulate the often messy code, that I often ended up writing partly in the controller and partly in the view - using instance variables, and typing ?if? way too often in the template. What I ended up with were ?Ren(d)jects?, objects capable of being rendered. I have already mad...

generic methods - in particular the summary function
...version on CRAN, there is no NAMESPACE saying S3method(summary, fitdist) . However if we use summary on an object send by fitdist function it works fine... According to R-lang, we have " The most common use of generic functions is to provide print and summary methods for statistical ob jects, generally the output of some model fitting process. To do this, each model attaches a class attribute to its output and then provides a special method that takes that output and provides a nice readable version of it. The user then needs only remember that print or summary will provide nice...

Rendering objects directly via <%= render @some_object %>
My original post might have been overlooked by most, but I''ve made a plugin (link below) which allows rendering of objects directly via the render method: <%= render @some_object %> which would actuall render the @some_object object (the object is even able to handle the options hash. Rendering would actually be handeled by the object itself, by leaving it up to the object to inteact with the template and pa...

using an element of an array as a new object
I have an array called filesBox. I want to take each element of the first column and assign a dataset to it. For example : filesBox[4,1] returns [1] "fileR" Then I want to assign "fileR" which exists as a text file to the R object "fileR" like this : filesBox[4,1] <- read.table(paste(dir2, filesBox[4,1], sep=""), header = FALSE) But this doesn't

package functions documentation
Dear all, I am currently creating a package and writing the documention files for some functions (the main functions). When using R CMD check myPackage, I get a warning message indicating that some of my functions are not documented. How can I get rid of this problem? Of course, I don't want to document every function in the package... Thanks for your help. -- David Ardia H-building, room

New Firefly version
As Promised, I've released a new version of Firefly (ver 1.8) with IAX & SIP support back in. Get it from Virbiage site or here's the direct link http://www.virbiage.com/firefly/download/firefly-thirdparty.exe If it crashes on startup, export your Firefly tree from the registry (current user -> software -> firefly), then delete tree from your registry. If that fixes it, send
