encoding problem with samba 227 ad rh80
...it's possible because I have MDK 80 boxes with samba 227 which work
fine. But in this case I need an RH80, and I think this is the problem !!!

readonly files get un-erasable from win nt clients #REPOST

LLJVM make error
That source file was removed from LLVM in r232397 on March 16, 2015.
It looks like lljvm hasn't been updated in a long time. LLVM's C++ APIs are not stable, so there is no expectation that a project built against LLVM's C++ API in 2015 would build or reasonably function against LLVM trunk.
The project probably works against LLVM 3.6.2 which was (I believe) the last LLVM release to

so the question is : how do i escape blanks in user/group names in smb.conf

FYI : oplock problems
...uot;oplocks = no" on the share and rebooting (the only way to remove
D-state processes in this case) solved the problem
oplocks are definitively a nightmire for us here...

tseries bug (PR#593)

I have a problem with the package tseries_0.5-2.
The source of tseries_0.5-2 was compiled by command R INSTALL /path/to/package.

2.2.4 and "veto files" -> cpu maxed out

I use in a share
veto files = /.*/
whenever you connect to it the client process hangs, the smbd starts
consuming cpu time and cannot be killed but with "kill -9".
This is the last part of the smbd log

plotmath "overstrikes" in output on a Linux system

systems to make a nice figure, but on a Dell Laptop with Fedora Linux
8 and R 2.6.2, something funny happens: the characters "overstrike"
each other. The Greek letter "mu" is printed several spaces to the
left of the "(" that it is supposed to follow. I made an itty bitty
picture of the figure title to show you:

I can force in spaces to re-arrange the symbols so they do not

need help with preexec
Hi all
I wanted to send a message to users when they are mapping, to migrate to
different samba server
I am assuming preexec will do this, users are w2k clients,
i would like w2k clients to get a message, like a popup windows box with
message once they map to thier unix home directory
how would i do that, does preexec will help me here

How do i set different permission for a shared directory?
Hello,
Would really appreciate any advise on how the security setting should be
setup.
I have running Samba ver 2.0.7 on HPUX10.20. Clients run Windows 200 PCs,
WinNT4 PDC.
"docusers" is the UNIX home directory for document users. their individual
home dir is created under their user id.
so, Paul 's home directory structure is :
/docusers/paul

Can't validate USER@DOMAIN in Runas
I have my XP-Pro machine setup as a member of an Samba-based Domain server.
I usually run as "linda@<localmachine>", but wanted to try running a
