Error on "Load source file" of iESS
Dear R and ESS users,
I got the following error when trying to load a source file
(smart.R in directory E:\R\)
into XEmacs through the menu iESS and "Load source file":
Error in file(file, "r") : unable to open connection
In addition: Warning message:
cannot open file `E:Rsmart.R'
It seems the slash "/" or "\" being missing, but I don't know how to fix that.
I just can't find this kind...

quitting iESS[R] (R in ESS)
One thing that has driven me batty to no end is the fact that ESS
doesn't handle R's "exit" well. Any thoughts as to the default? I'm
thinking of something like:
current: do what currently is done
C-u Y C-c C-q : quit and save workspace
C-u N C-c C-q : quit and don't save workspace.
Comments?
best,
-tony

Using XEmacs and ESS with R for MS/Windows
I've been working on a document describing the use of XEmacs and ESS with R
for Windows users, along with configuration files that are meant to make
things simple for Windows users. This was initially intended for my
students, but with recent discussions of Windows (and other) editors on the
the R-help list, I thought that I'd make the material more widely available.

isn't the problem. I have two Rgui and one iESS [R] running and all three

dll symbol loading: possible bug

I start R, with this .Rprofile present. Although re-dyn.load()ing of the

subsequent dyn.load()s seem to result in loss of symbols in the other dll:

gnuclient.exe as pager ?
Hi,
I see there are some previous threads on gnuclient.exe, but I can't
figure this out based on those...
I recently started using ESS with Xemacs. I'm on Windows XP. On starting
iESS, my editor gets set to 'gnuclient.exe'. I don't understand how this
works, since there is no executable anywhere on my machine called
"gnuclient.exe". But I have no complaints: I like the primitive
spreadsheet that now gets invoked by edit.data.frame. Now, I would like
to be a...

Not finding help.start is puzzling! Because of this error, x11 would
not start. Exchanging the lines with help.start and x11 would just
result in not finding x11!
Yet doing a manual

is possible.

Apparent parser problem (PR#2520)
Let me first admit: I am experiencing this bug on a precompiled binary
of R for windows, and I know these are not supported. I am not asking
for support, but I thought the R developers would want to know about
this.
# Define:
foo.page <- function(x) x
# Then,
foo.page("a")
# actually invokes the pager (!) on object named "a" (if one is
defined).
# same thing happens
