Hollander's test of bivariate symmetry
Does anyone know if any R package has a function that will conduct Hollander's test of bivariate symmetry? (Hollander, Biometrika, 1971) Either the exact test or an asymptotic version would be sufficient for my purposes. Thanks. ks.test (PR#1004)
The note to 1004 says "fixed for 1.3.1" Uh. No. It ain't. The problem was more serious than guessed as even the simplest testing would show. For example, Example 5.4 in Hollander and Wolfe (Nonparametric Statistical, Methods, 2nd ed., Wiley, 1999, pp. 180-181) R Version 1.3.1 (SuSE Linux 7.1) > X <- read.table(url("http://www.stat.umn.edu/geyer/5601/hwdata/t5-7.txt"), + header = TRUE) > names(X) [1] "x" "y" > attach(X) > ks...

Hello, I am working on a simple non-parametric (Theil) regression function and and am following Hollander and Wolfe 1999 text. I would like some help making my function faster. I have compared with pre-packaged version from "MBLM", which isnt very fast either, but it appears mine is faster with N = 1000 (see results below). I plan on running this function repeatedly, and I generally have d...

Re: Live Migration Issue
Sorry, ctrl entered. I'm hoping someone here can help me figure out what's going on here. I've got two CentOS 7 hosts with shared storage that I'm trying to do live migrations between and I'm running into an error with VMs that were originally created on a CentOS 6 host and then moved the CentOS 7 hosts. filled maps
Hi R-Help, I would like to make filled contour maps of ocean data overlaid by costlines from the map package. I can draw the filled contours and the coastlines om the same plot, but the filled contour also covers part of the land. To get rid of that I tried to draw a filled coastline map on top of the filled contour, but the filled map only draws the closed contours - so most of the land is

Bristuff 0.20RC3 loses connectivity after short line interruption?
I installed bristuff0.20-RC3 (which includes * 1.0.3 stable) It works fine until I disconnect the phone jack for the ISDN line. Even after plug it back in asterisk still reports that it could not create a zap channel when I try to dial out and the line gives an engaged tone when I try to dial. Re-starting asterisk doesn't solve this, I have to stop asterisk, unload the modules, reload

dovecot sometimes sends non-default SSL cert if IMAP client won't send SNI
Hi, I recognised some funny behaviour on my server. IMAP clients which won't send an Server Name Indication (SNI) sometimes get the wrong certificate. I would expect that those clients always get the default certificate (of my new domain), instead in about 20 to 50% of connections the certificate of my old domain will be presented. (sample rate was 3 times 30 connections) Clients sending SNI

Huber location estimate
We have a choice when calculating the Huber location estimate: > set.seed(221205) > y <- 7 + 3*rt(30,1) > library(MASS) > huber(y)$mu [1] 5.9117 > coefficients(rlm(y~1)) (Intercept) 5.9204 I was surprised to get two different results. The function huber() works directly with the definition whereas rlm() uses iteratively reweighted least squares. My surprise is

Recommendations on nonparametric statistical inference textbooks
Could somebody recommend some good nonparametric statistical inference textbooks for a beginner? And what are pros and cons of each book? Nonparametric statistical methods by Hollander seems to be more difficult for a beginner, but is great as a reference, right? Are there any books that are easier to learn than Hollander's? Also, I see some books in the wiki page. I don't find the reviews for "Nonparametric Statistical Inference" by Gibbons et. al. on Amazon....
