link-dest
Hi, I've seen the option --link-dest of rsync and this is nearly what I'm searching for. Problem for me is that if remotefile exists the link-dest gets not checked again and I want to be able to pass more than one link-dest to rsync. Has someone an idea for this? Lars

What exactly IS the winbind daemon?
Hi, maybe this is a newbie-question, but ... here we go: I read the documentation for winbindd several times now but didn't get far. We run Samba as primary domain controller for several dozen clients and over 3000 users and never used winbind, so my question is quite simple: What does winbind provide and when do i need it? I assume that winbind is only used when i use samba as a client in

Possible to have Email-Adresses as logins?
Hi, we want to set up a samba-server with an ldap-backend (so far no problem, got this running already) but want the users to login to workstations using their email-address instead of a "normal" login-name. I already figured out that i cannot add unix users with an "@" in their login neither via "useradd" nor via "smbldap-useradd", so i was thinking about

Question about banking to 45 degrees.
Hello, I am very interested in "banking to 45 degrees" as defined by William S. Cleveland in "Visualizing Data." I like to do it in R as well as Excel, etc. With R I have come across the following method: xyplot(x, y, aspect="xy") (part of "lattice" package) which will bank my graph to 45 degrees. My question is how do I obtain the aspect ratio

Problem with Wait() and chan_capi-cm?
Hi! I am playing around with Asterisk and have a problem :-) (Asterisk-version: 1.2.4, chan_capi-cm-version: 0.6.4) I have a sip-phone at my desk and an ISDN-phone (independent of the Asterisk-server) in my living room, when I'm not at my desk, the sip-phone is switched off. I would like to be able to accept calls at both phones (when available) and have Voicemail kick in if I don't

Problems with computing an aggregated score
Hi all, I have a problem with computing a new variable as an aggregated score of other variables. Say, I have 10 variables for 1,000 observations (people). Every variable may have values between 0 and 8. What I would like to do is computing the mean of the individual top 3 values for every person. Exampe: The values for the 10 variables (v1 to v10) for person A, B and C are as follows: A 0 1 0

Whats all this Linux business anyway?
Alright lads, I'm Rick Masters and I know very little about networks, but for some mad reason I have been given the job of setting up a Linux File Server on an NT network. How the dickens does that work? Anyway I need as much help as you can be bothered to give me. And there is a free pizza in it for the guy who helps me get it working :-) You are all super and great fun (I'm sure).

Possible to use 2 LDAP-Servers for different purposes?
Hi, is it possible to realize the following scenario? And if yes: how? ;) The current setup is as follows: We have a Samba 3 server on a linux machine as PDC and an OpenLDAP server as passdb backend (on the same host). All users and groups were inserted via the SMBLDAP tools by IDEALX. So far, so good. Everything runs fine. Now our plan is it to use another, external LDAP server for pure

R-plots with 'complex' axis-labelling
Hi there, I want to create plots with some kind of 'complex' axis labelling of the form $\dot{V}$ and integrate those plots into a LaTeX document. What is the best way to go? I've figured out, that the 'plotmath' commands are somewhat limited (at least I wasn't able to get the $\dot{V}$ generated) and that plots with 'plotmath'-axes wouldn't export

Problem with logarithmic axes labelling
Dear R-helpers! Using logarithmic axes sometimes results in an odd labelling. In some cases, only half of the axes do have labels. Hmmmm. I've played around with par(lab=c(5,5,7)) but that didn't help. An example: ---- begin example ---- x <- c(0.12, 0.3, 0.53, 1.1, 1.8, 2.6, 4.5) y <- c(0.012, 0.021, 0.032, 0.055, 0.1, 0.2, 0.35) plot(x, y, log="xy",

Can one aply 'mgp' to individual axis?
Dear R-wizards! I want to move the axis label of the y-axis a little bit more apart from the border of the plot (otherwise, it would overlap with my horizontal numbering). 'par(mgp(3.5, 1, 0))' does it properly. Unfortunately, it also moves the x-axis label which does not look good. Is there a way to specify 'mgp' for each axis separately or is there another way to move just

asterisk gui client
I have looked at matt's asterisk gui client at sourceforge. I am not a programmer by trade. The documentation there seems to be a bit lacking. Has anyone have the experience in installing the gui client and may perhaps have a how-to document available for sharing. -- David Kwok Tel: 612 99292086 ext 1002 Iaxtel/FWD # 17001813482 ext 1002 -------------- next part -------------- A non-text
