Debian 9.8 and vanbelle-repos
Just to be safe and maybe interesting for others as well: Louis, is it safe to upgrade a Debian 9.7 on which I run your samba-packages to deb 9.8? I assume so, but prefer to ask in advance ;-) good morning all, Stefan

Ruby on Rails and WURFL?
...y Mac OS X machine and I am eager to start to learn more! It seems as such a great plattform for doing webapplications. I have a specific task I would like to acomplish but being a newbie with Rails and Ruby am not sure where to start. What I want to do is to create a mobile site that is very goood at detecting which device is used for accessing the web application and then adjust the pages accroding to the devices capabilities. Fortunately WURFL (http://wurfl.sourceforge.net/) is excellent at identifying the various devices. For the Java world there is a tag library (WALL - http://wurfl...

flac with ogg metadata to ogg vorbis transcode, new release of vorbis-tools?
...ide note after ogg 1.0 was finally out I've seen references on the vorbis mailing lists to some significant quality improvements (including some sort new lossless compression algorithm wich needed a multiple pass encoding process, wich although being usesless for live streaming it would be very goood for users who wich to use it for archival purposes and want maximum bag for the byte :) )also if i remember correctly 1.0 still lacked some features like peeling (well acording to the latest ogg traffic issues that seems to be done soon and in the quality department wavelets wich aparently these fe...

I'm running a debian mirror (debian.ludost.net) which has 128k connectivity to the world, and 100mbps to it's clients. The problem is the following: once a while,

winbind seems to hang when the DC goes down instead of switching to the other available DC
Hai Marco, Yes, best is to use the "localhost" dns setup as caching/forwarder only. All you need is for the forwarding is : zone "your.dnsdomain.tld" { type forward; forwarders { IP_DC1; IP_DC2; }; }; zone "168.192.in-addr.arpa" { type forward; forwarders { IP_DC1; IP_DC2; }; }; If you think its still to slow, remove > options attempts:2

find_by_sql without a model? how to do this?
Hi, I''d like to do a "find_by_sql" without a model (e.g. <model name>.find_by_sql("...")) as the results I get back are a once off special, and I''m happy to handle them as an array. How do I do this? "ActiveRecord::Base.find_by_sql(...)" does not seem to work? Background - At the moment I''m doing within a model <model_name>,
